Mickey Jannis is the only one in Diamond Dynasty that you can use. He's in the free agent pool all the way down to the bottom. Phil Niekro is in the game and you can use him also but only in non Diamond Dynasty modes like exhibition games. He's a 98 overall on the Mid-Century Groundbreakers.

I’m sure that’s the case! But why pay for rights and then not use that player. Just don’t make sense!
Multiple possible reasons, but most likely they either originally inked him long term or his rights are basically peanuts. You could argue that not everything SDS caters to DD and he's in there for other game modes and offline players, but I think that's a very tough argument.

I agree with you’re “long term” assessment. The one and only time I went 12-0 in BR, Phil was my reward. Back before they let you choose so that tells ya how long ago that was.
