Honest question for the Offline only gamers
-
As the title reads…do you guys have fun sticking to offline?
It was my first year for the show and I’ve honestly enjoyed it. Server problems and all.
I’ve finally had enough of Ranked Seasons. And no, this is not me blaming SDS. I’m blaming myself. I’m so widely inconsistent that it has taken the fun out of the game. In my opinion, the whole point of DD is to build your team with players to like to play other’s teams online. I do enjoy particular events. But that gets me back to my problem. The point of DD, for me, is playing with A team with the players I work for.
So, restating my question…do you offline players still have fun grinding out for players to play offline? And is there anyone like me who had been happy “retiring” from online play?

@Dolenz_PSN is strictly offline. I think. ..

Yes, I just love using the cards of players i like, that is what is most important to me, earning and using cards. Too much about ranked is about winning. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but the win at all cost mentally that leads to people finding any way to exploit the game to get a win is just too much for me, or the toxic R2 holding, sore losers who want to say nasty things to you after they lose, even when I have messages off. I have only played vs people when the mission requirements for getting cards were based on online stats. Sure I have had a few good experiences playing people, but those few bad experiences ruined the entire game for me when it comes to H2H play.

I do play a lot of online, but will be cutting back in 22, especially RS. I'm with you on that. I'll play some BR and Events, but probably more offline this year.
-
The thing about offline is if your willing to put in a bit of effort you could do it in franchise and make it even more enjoyable. You get the cards from Day 1 and have no reason to wait 6-7 months before you can use whoever you want. You have an actual season to play with stats, awards, trades, contracts. There is a post season with a World Series where you would play against other teams with legends and not the live series whoever’s for the 50th time.
I just don’t get offline DD. Wait months for cards to play teams that never change with no real end game other than cards they could literally already be using or playing against. Borderline psycho.
-
I've never liked ranked seasons, and I probably play 65% online. Events and BR were always more enjoyable to me. Nothing wrong with being an offline player.
-
I play strictly offline and in 21 tried some online but not as much in DD but H2H online.
I like collecting cards , doing the offline programs, conquest, all the offline modes.
At least offline, I know 10/10 times the CPU is going to play baseball. DD Online, maybe 3/10 times I'll match up vs someone who is going to play baseball. The other 7/10 times I'll match up with someone who is exploiting the game to win at all costs which is no fun for me.
In the last month or so I really liked the H2H Online (not DD) as I experience getting matched up with other players who want to play baseball more than DD. I'd say 8/10 players I've met on non-DD H2H online play baseball. H2H online also makes you strategize more since you're team isn't stacked with all 99s or 90+.

You don't get legends in franchise.
You don't have missions and other fun RPG elements in Franchise.
You don't have cool things like Showdown.
You can't get special versions of your favorite players.
Most of all, franchise was stale at least 5 years ago and has barely changed since then. -

You don't get all cards day one. Not only are there multiple cards of players you don't have access to, there are some cards not announced until later in the year that aren't on the game day one, and lastly, show me a Franchise eligible Babe Ruth that plays OF.
Oh and how is franchise more enjoyable, there is plenty of problems with Franchise mode, hence why franchise people are up in arms about it being untouched. I get way more enjoyment playing DD vs CPU than playing franchise. One of the main reasons is I'm not using the same 25 or 30 guys for 162 games. 162 games of DD I can use hundreds of different players.
-
I play strictly offline. I don’t have much time to play and when I do, I tend to get interrupted a lot so players my against players really isn’t possible. Offline has plenty of features now like conquest and all the programs that are available throughout the year. Lastly, when I did play online years ago, it was toxic. I just want to relax and play a baseball game. I guess I’m old school and remember playing a lot of games before the days of online play.

I do enjoy it. They are goals to accomplish while playing a baseball video game.
Do I need the diamond players to compete against the CPU? Not at all but that does not lessen the fun of trying to get them.
I also realize that since I don't invest or flip cards that I won't complete collections, or be able to afford the really expensive cards and that is fine. My goal is simply to have a good team full of players I like to use while building the best Squad of Cardinals that I can.
I also don't play nearly as much as many online players. When I start to get burnt out or I have all of the players that I want I simply stop playing. I have not played for the last several months in the hope that when the new version comes out I will be refreshed a little and can be excited about playing again.
-
Another aspect I like is I don’t have to use cards that are meta online. I can pitch with a guy like Greg Maddux and not get destroyed because players like him are unusable online.

I maxed out the xp path a little over a month ago and I’m enjoying the break to play other games.

You don't have cool things like Showdown.
You are the first person ever to use the word "cool" to describe Showdown.
That said, I like Showdown.

Anyone that has been on the forum for much of the year knows that I was very much against doing them, however, as time went on, I came to not hate them but tolerate them when I learned how to draft better and understand which perks would be useful which I appreciate others that gave me advice. I never did beat the last one as I couldn’t get past Nolan Ryan.

I vaguely remember you being anti-Showdown. Or more accurately, VEHEMENTLY against Showdown

Why in the world would you include those last two words. You could have left those off and gotten your point across. But instead you finish with two words that basically insult the offline players.
Here is something else to ponder. Those of us who play offline are probably much more content and appreciative of the game. We complain less. We don't care if someone uses directional hitting, we don't have to deal with freeze offs or abusive players. We don't have to play a large majority of our games at Shippet. We don't complain about comeback logic, predetermined outcomes, high sinkers from outlier pitchers.
We all pay the same price for the game so there is no right or wrong way to play and enjoy DD.

Oh I was. I will never deny it. I’m still not a fan of it being required to finish a program but I will give it a try if it’s just for xp for that inning if I want to change it up.

Yes I enjoy playing Offline, I do enjoy online when the game first releases. Once everyone has God squads it is not fun for me.
