That said, I like Showdown.
Anyone that has been on the forum for much of the year knows that I was very much against doing them, however, as time went on, I came to not hate them but tolerate them when I learned how to draft better and understand which perks would be useful which I appreciate others that gave me advice. I never did beat the last one as I couldn’t get past Nolan Ryan.

We all pay the same price for the game so there is no right or wrong way to play and enjoy DD.

Oh I was. I will never deny it. I’m still not a fan of it being required to finish a program but I will give it a try if it’s just for xp for that inning if I want to change it up.

In my opinion, the whole point of DD is to build your team with players to like to play other’s teams online. I do enjoy particular events. But that gets me back to my problem. The point of DD, for me, is playing with A team with the players I work for.
So, restating my question…do you offline players still have fun grinding out for players to play offline? And is there anyone like me who had been happy “retiring” from online play?
Yes I enjoy playing Offline, I do enjoy online when the game first releases. Once everyone has God squads it is not fun for me.

Offline is a great introductory course to the game. In addition, it's not just about waiting to get the ultimate cards. Yes, having every card is fun but I really enjoyed trying out all the low- mid cards along the way. I had a blast trying to steal 50 bases with Luis Aparicio and getting Dante Bichettes average over. 500. I loved completing the Field of Dreams program using only players from the FOD packs and white Sox and Yankees.
Team Affinity alone is a ton of fun, building teams using only a certain division and adding players you win on the reward path as you go.
Conquest may seem boring when you've been at it for years but again, there are a ton of first year players who are finally learning how to strategize their way through.
In short, I think being a strictly offline player is great if you are new to the game but it would become a little tedious year after year. Still, I prefer to play a game against the computer or a friend, rather than a stranger who even when winning 14-0, throws absolutely nothing near the plate. And yes, it's my fault for swinging....which is why until I'm good enough to compete, I'll spend more of my time offline.

Yup, I the the online only person doesn't understand the concept that those of us who play offline are not just looking for the best possible line up to crush the CPU with. It's entirely because online strategy is just get best possible team to win as much online as you can.

You brought up a good point. Team affinity might be one of the best things for offline players. The ability to use less than god squad cards that you wouldn’t use for any other reason is fun. It forces you to mix up your lineup and pitching staff.

Wow I’ve never even thought about H2H mode. That’s a great idea.
I know this is not appropriate for the DD forum, but has anyone ever had luck with friendly leagues? I’ve done them before in madden and they were fun with active people.

Leagues are great. The problem is getting everyone to commit to playing when you are supposed to because everyone is playing missions or something trying to get better players.

The Paralleling cards breathed new life into offline DD.
I've said it before, so again I grew up in the pre-online days, up until 1999 or so when NFL 2K debuted it, so I don't need to prove anything online. if SDS supplies the content like they always do, there will always be something to do offline.
I want DD Seasons, which would be great. Mix up the difficulty between All-Star and HOF, or Rookie for those that may complain 🤪. I'm taking a break until '22. I'm doing NHL and NBA 2k career modes plus some GT7 for now. Maybe a little BP in the Tech Test to stay sharp. -

Absolutely. I do get trying to build the best possible squad, but there are so many options at every position I find it a lot of fun to experiment with lineups.
I have a buddy and whenever we play h2h, one of us chooses a theme. He has to be NL active players, me legend from the AL. Or he's all 90s I'm all 80s. Something like that.
I think it would be fun to do a league and have anyone who is still playing 21 participate until we all have decent enough teams for 22.

I enjoy playing offline. I've never liked online competitive play for this game—server issues and network lag is just not fun. I don't need to put any more stress on myself than I already have, lol.
Besides, I've finally figured out how to do well in the market, so I can make stubs without the tedium of online play. And bullying the CPU is quite satisfying.

I've put in over a thousand hours each of the last three years and have never played an online game of any kind. I see all the constant toxicity being posted about and the constant freeze offs and whatnot and that just doesn't appeal to me. Sure maybe I'll have a good game against someone once in a while but my time is too valuable to have to hope for that.
As someone said earlier, I know exactly what I'm getting with offline and truly enjoy it. Maybe part of it is generational. I'm 45 and so growing up playing RBI Baseball and Bases Loaded on NES on into each future console generation there was obviously no online play until the 2000's. So anyone in there twenties or younger has pretty much had online available for their entire life. Now of course plenty of you could me my age or older and only play online, but for someone like me who is simply a diehard lover of the game of baseball and baseball cards, I will always only play DD offline. It has the perfect amount of new content weekly for me to keep up with amidst the real world.

I stopped playing this franchise about 2-3 years ago because online play was HORRIBLE.
I stated back up late this year only because I got the game for $10.
I did mostly offline stuff to get caught up on content.
Once I got pretty caught up; I decided to try the BR program.
I suffered through it and once I got to 100pts; I stopped playing BR.
I recently tried the new Event (Part 2).
Tonight, when I got home from shopping I turned the game on and entered an Event game.
I was the home team; so I pitched first.
After my opponent, who had a WS icon and a 20x 12-0 banner, decided to hold R2 FOR THE DURATION of the whole half inning, decided to try to take an extra lead when he got someone on base, and bunt danced the WHOLE half inning; I just shut off the game and watched movies with the wife.
IF, and that's a big if, I buy 22 right away; I'm going to play nothing but online.
Once I come across a player, that I want, that is tied to either me playing a H2H or will cost my 1M in stubs and has a wait-list of longer than 100, I'll be completely done with this game.
I may play offline franchise; but if I incur what I mentioned; I'll be done with DD and will only buy the new game when it's on sale for $20 or under.

Yes, I just love using the cards of players i like, that is what is most important to me, earning and using cards. Too much about ranked is about winning. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but the win at all cost mentally that leads to people finding any way to exploit the game to get a win is just too much for me, or the toxic R2 holding, sore losers who want to say nasty things to you after they lose, even when I have messages off. I have only played vs people when the mission requirements for getting cards were based on online stats. Sure I have had a few good experiences playing people, but those few bad experiences ruined the entire game for me when it comes to H2H play.
I play this game year round every single day online. What did you experience that makes you feel this way? I only ask because I don't think it's that bad. Of course you get the occasional bunt dancer, R2 holder & pause guy, but thats life.
You never know if the guy you're playing has one hand, a mental illness or a house full of kids. If it gets that bad I just quit and search for another game.
You made it sound like somebody walked in your house and slapped the food out of your mouth.
