I've already completed this map a few times, but I have no clue how I started it without having to start over several times. You get 9 peeps and either you fight over every hexagon back and forth till you gain some ground or you take a stronghold early on All Star but then have no reinforcements and no way to grow.

Now that the year is almost over, does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to gain a foothold on this map early? There's nothing else in the game to do. Thanks.

Go north and then west as fast as possible. Once up in the corner start spreading south and taking over strong holds and the entire west coast. Begin to push east as a wall.

I’ve done this over 50 times. Take Minnesota on first turn. Then build a wall against Colorado. Then go south and continue to build a wall against Arizona. Then go East and South. Then West. If you do this you’ll never have to play above Veteran except for first game against Minnesota.

Work in a circular manner from the initial point of the map. Early on take risks and play games on high difficulties to Steal as many fans as you can. I know most people don’t like to steal fans but not doing it allows the other teams to build up big fan bases near their strongholds and just prolongs the misery. If you bypass the steal fans phase you’re missing an opportunity to cripple the other strongholds. I know it requires you to play an extra game but it 3 innings. And it this point it gives you something to do

I take as many empty spots as possible going toward Min first cut them off. Then go west over COL build a wall, Build South a wall to keep CHC, KC and TX out. You only need to keep one less fan than the CPU, So if the CPU has 3 fans you only need 2 fans and they will not attack, Once I have my walls built I move West to take out Sea and make my way down to SD and then AZ then I go east to take out TX, kC and Hou, Now I have half the Map and build my wall from North to South and Move east. I play every game on Rookie or Vet. I will take COL out after it spreads out, Then you have protection. from those fans. You do not need to take those Hex from COL right away once you take the stronghold. Yes steal fans early on.

First 2 turns: build as big a buffer as you can between MIN, CHC, and KC.

Next, build a buffer towards COL and head NW, conquering all the unclaimed territory you can.

Now, look back and start surrounding (but not conquering) MIN and COL. make sure all your buffers are 2-3 territories deep. Snuff out any incursions that might occur.

Once that’s done and you’re getting 20-25 recruits per move, start near SEA and work counter-clockwise surrounding every stronghold.

By the time you’ve conquered every non-stronghold, you should be getting 130 or so a round and all the strongholds should be around 18-20 meaning you can play everyone on rookie.

Based on all these responses you should have plenty of new tactics to use to conquer that map relatively easily. All of them are sound strategies it really depends on which one is the most comfortable

Honestly, get on YouTube, even if the video is from the show 16. It's the same strategy. It's really easy, just time consuming.

All depends on what your objective is with the map at this stage.

Guys have laid out pretty strong ways to approach if the goal is just to make the games as easy as possible to complete the map, and you can’t go wrong these ways if that’s the goal.

I start surrounding my stronghold then immediately then steal 5 fans from an opponent in the far corner of the direction I am heading ( usually Seattle if going west). Then I just start moving that direction and try to take down strongholds as quick as possible (I play all games on legend just For some type challenge and it allows me to not really worry about protecting strongholds with more than 2 fans in a spot, and slows the monotony to me ).

I have done this countless times and have only been attacked and had to replay a stronghold one time and I just wasn’t paying attention to a team.

These are all great ideas. I am pretty sure I completed the map 3 times and have no reason to do it, other than I'm sick of RIB and this is really cool hearing all your various strategies.

So, for stealing fans, I've only really ever done this to satisfy conquest missions. Pardon the stupid question: but do you actually obtain those fans at the hex you're on when you steal them? Or...how does it work?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to write these out. I really want to build a new roster of players I haven't used much and go through the whole map and see how it shakes out. Part B of this post is coming. I need a new roster and would love suggestions.

Stealing fans takes them from the opponents stronghold and doesn't boost a particular hexagon, it just gives you the amount you stole to assign in your next reinforcement (so you can put them wherever you like)

Turn one - 1 space towards Rockies, then down just above Royals and end in the hex just south of Twins. Steal 3 from twins. Turn 2, play Twins (will be on vet) then sim up to top of map and go west as far as possible. Steal 3 from Rockies. Turn 3, reinforce all fans to hex just to east of Rockies, beat Rockies. Sim towards OAK. Turn 4 all fans where turn 3 ended, head up empty hexes along western boundary. Turn 5/6 fill in all empty hexes. Once all empty are owned, reinforce near Mariners and take of west coast.

Yes, you steal twice, but I have found that those steals save me at least 30 minutes of simming.

Just take out the Rockies on turn 1 and nothing else really matters. You can do it a bunch of different ways. I once beat all the teams before the Map was even filled. Which means nothing but it is a great way to make the final simulations a lot faster. It takes less time to take a bunch of 1s then it does 10s and 15s.

Also a great tip is the CPU will never attack you unless they have out numbered. So when you build a wall somewhere, don’t put any more reinforcements then they have, in fact one less is fine. If they have 3, you can put 2 reinforcements next to them, and they’ll never take a 2v2 so you can use the rest to make a path towards the strongholds.

Also if for some reason they have a 8 surrounded by 1s, just leave it, they can’t move it and it does nothing for them, if you attack the 1 then the 8 can escape and attack you and you might lose 14 reinforcements for no reason. Just grab it at the end when you have 200.

All these small things add up at the start, you want to be way ahead of everyone, don’t start stealing half way through it’s not worth it then. A few at the start will really help just based on how the reinforcements works but after a few turns it’s not worth it, far more value in taking as many spots as possible. Then when you can give yourself 20-30 per turn just go straight at strong holds turn after turn.

Honestly, unless it’s your first time, I wouldn’t even bother worrying about sinking all tue non stronghold spaces now beaten all the strongholds. Those 10 LS packs aren’t worth the squeeze any longer 😎

Oh for sure, definitely no interest in the LS packs, even the prospect packs are kinds pointless by now, but at least it feels like worthwhile reward hahaha. I've done the map 3 or 4 times a while ago and everytime I fought tooth and nail to gain a foothold which took forever. Once I'd built my wall as everyone says, I started working my way from the Pacific Northwest to Socal and then the big March east. I'm a stat nerd and thought this would be a cool way to build a new Roster and see which players I really like at the end.

I definitely am getting lots of good ideas for how to go about this, and truthfully I've never really known where the stolen fans went because I only ever do them on rookie or Veteran and only to satisfy mission requirements. I definitely think stealing them early on HOF is a good idea, I also never really knew the attack ratio so knowing I just need 2 against 3 in my wall to start helps a lot.

I appreciate these and will be posting my Roster inquiry now if anyone has suggestions.

You inspired me to do this map again, I started a few days ago and did it differently than I normally do and it has been the best. The Prospects are going between 5k and 8k for the NL west I finished them last night. I have completed 10 teams in 15 turns. I have another 3 set up to take out at 20 turns.

I took out COL first, I played them on AS to take out there 5 fans first. Then I stole 3 fans by beating them on AS again. Then I took over the stronghold playing them on AS for a third time. Next I moved to the open spaces toward my teams starting strong hold. Then I stole fans from AZ.Next I moved toward AZ. AZ usually moves up toward COL pretty fast, I did not take them out right away. I got all the way down to them and I played all the games against them I did not simulate. I think I had to only play two games. Then I Stole 3 fans by playing AZ on AS. Next I put my fans in my original stronghold to make a wall going up toward MIN. Then I stole fans from Sea on AS. Next I moved down south making a wall against KC, TX and Hou, Steal more fans from Sea or AZ. Continue to build a wall up toward OAK and Sea, Now I have the central teams and west teams blocked off. I did not take all the open spaces above COL. I just left those.

Note after stealing fans I would check how many fans the CPU had in each space next to me. I always would add a fan to stay one under what the CPU had,

Now that I have my walls I took out AZ, SD, LAA, SF, Oak, and Sea. I went directly at the stronghold not taking over any of the occupied spaces by these teams. I left them alone. I will take those out after I take over all the strongholds. Once the West side of the map was done, I moved toward TX, Hou and KC. Then I will take out MIN and CHC. after that will STL, CHW and MIL. I played Most games on AS or Vet to take over the strongholds. Now the rest of the way I will be playing on VET.
