I don't even know what to say about this thread, but on the topic: The only reason some people are disappointed is because they set themselves up for it by thinking it would be Jeter or a similar legend. Ohtani is a great choice out of the active players and is so fun to watch.

Chances are you are buying next years game no matter who is on the cover. Now that kid with the Nintendo switch sees Otani on the cover, now they are excited. They in turn get the game. Cover athletes are usually a popular commodity at the time to bring in new players.
I wouldn’t saying boring as much as I’d say very predictable. It’s the right choice though in my opinion.

I’m sure some numbers guy at SDS or a marketing expert might know. I’m no expert. I’d have to assume it matters a little to bringing in new customers.

I mean it's boring if you don't care about the game I sure it's like whatever who cares but since you're on a forum for the show posting I'm positive you do care and since that is true there's nothing wrong about putting the best baseball player we've seen since Barry bonds gracing the cover of the game that hosts the forum you're posting on bud!
