Why didn't you buy the cards you needed when the market crashed last month when prices dropped.

Someone doesn't understand Supply/Demand...Econ 101. Audit a class at your local Ivy Tech. Heck hit up your local high school.
There are also things called price floors and ceilings and if they had actually implemented reasonable ones this problem wouldn't be occurring.
Yeah those floor and ceilings are decided by consumers, not the business. If a business wants to sell a plastic cup for $900, but no one buys, it's obvious the consumers have set a ceiling much lower then that
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/price-ceiling.asp#:~:text=A price ceiling is a,particular event sends costs skyrocketing.Tell me how SDS couldn't implement this especially on obviously overpriced cards.
So what you are saying is.
"Hi players who have been with us all year, I know you have these cards you've worked all year to get, but we have now decided you can't cash in on those cards for good stub prices, we will instead punish you for having that card all year"
Bruh, I'm not saying make and 85 John Smoltz 5k, but setting a max of 75k wouldn't be bad at this late stage in the year. It's worked great on FIFA Ultimate team. Also, if you have all of the collections done at this point, do you really have a reason to try and sell the Smoltz card for 250k other than greed?
If they did that and set a max buy order of 75k for a card like Smoltz then every card would be like Finest Trout with huge wait lines.
Didn't even think about that, A+ response right there
The high demand for Trout also makes sense given it's his best card, but the Smoltz has what, at least two other cards higher, I understand he's from earlier on in the year, but it feels like there could be something at this point where they could make it easier to attain older cards.
If that many people are willing to pay 200k-250k for Smoltz, there would absolutely be a line at 75k.
It doesn't matter that Smoltz has higher cards, I feel you don't grasp how or why prices exist. No one is paying 250k to use Smoltz, it's just that he's a rare card type
I understand them, I just don't feel like a video game market has to work like a capitalistic economy.
So you want it to be Socialism? Ok you can get him for free but you have to pay 75% in taxes so its still gonna cost you.

I’m guessing he’s a kid or unemployed and is used to getting stuff for free while others work for it. He’s learning a lesson that everything can’t be free or handed to him if he throws a fit.

Put in the time like the rest of us, and you'll have him too. Frankly, I think it should have been a higher collect percentage for the big collection reward (Griffey).
I've obviously put in the time if I'm 4 vouchers and like 15 cards away. I don't play online anymore because I just get matched against people who don't miss when they swing and this is my first year on the game. It's all tryhards now because its become Pay to play.
I mean reading ppl's replies are kinda meh, I mean qucikest way that is very boring is the market. but if youre this new id say go for team affinty mainly 4. it offers a ton of packs and your team is way better. youll make hundreds of thousands off that though it may take some time

Me, too. I locked it in seconds after it dropped. I thought more would be needed...
-
Look, I kinda get it, but I kinda don't. I started on the XBox X, and transferred over after the fifth inning. What didn't transfer over were all of the cards that I had collected before then. That's a little annoying, since I would have Kershaw done and be close to Griffey. I can get them by playing the market and might do, but I wouldn't complain about it. As for it being "pay to play" that is one SDS gets right, this game isn't that. As for overpriced cards that are exclusive rewards for achieving certain things online, I don't have a problem with that either. Those people earned them doing something I can't do, so the price is set by them, and good luck to them for having the skills in the first place.
-
I've played since day 1, but offline.
I'm at 8 vouchers for Griffey but still need 8 of these 9 and this amount of each:
SIG-7
Vet-8
AS-9
Breakout-10
Future Stars-2
Second Half-9
Awards-13
Prime-4
Milestone-14
I sold Sig-Pedro because I wanted to get 500k Belli.
I'm sitting at 766K stubs, but want to sell Ruth, a glorified singles hitter for 300K to get Trout, since I won't get Griffey.
I didn't prepare for the collection when there were so many 'warning' threads on here. I actually sold Joc early in the season, having no idea how high his card would go. Look at it now. Shocking.
I have no problem with BR awards being hard to get, but event awards that will never restart should be lower in price, especially if casuals are so important so they can get Griffey as well. -
Why would event rewards that will never restart go down in price? That's the opposite of what the market would predict.
The fact is that if you don't play online in RS and BR, it will be hard, nearly impossible, to get big collections done without turning the game into a flipping simulation.

It's weird too because hes comparing it to FIFA. You have to trade in many high rated squads worth of players to get a single SBC card that will be basically underpowered within a month. Its EA, they certainly dont give you stuff for free.

The value in those cards isn’t the player themselves. The value of those cards are they are the step stones to Griffey (just like Jhonathan Diaz earlier).

Step 1: Buy a topps now card for 20,000 stubs. Step 2: sell it back for 40,000. You gust made 16,000 profit. Do that 17 times and you get enough profit to get said card
Agreed!
-
Usually by August it becomes very easy to flip cards and make some coin. All you need is some patience. I flipped silver cards and made 700k in one night. Buying cards for like 300-700 stubs and selling for 3000 give or take.

So you come in with an opinion, noone agrees with you yet you continue to think you as the only person with your opinion is right. Then to top it off just start throwing insults like a child. I've gone over the top and been an asshole a few times on the forum but this is just embarrassing.
-
I got 3.4MM stubs and I don't have any players I really want to buy any longer. Meh.
-
Has anyone seen my wallet? Sorry to interrupt......
......whoa what happened in here? -
As long as you prepared prior to the Griffey set dropping you were fine. This is only my second year playing but the pattern of large collections is the same. Check out some youtubes, there were a bunch of tutorials and guys speculating what you needed in each collection. It is usually a percentage of the cards released. I think I made stubs because I overprepared and had cards left over after locking in the set. If you waited to pick up those golds with 25k orders on them that is on you. Griffey is not a participation award, he should be hard to obtain. If anything Im mad becasue the 10th inning gave out a bunch of henchmen packs so you can now make Griffey at a fraction of the cost from a couple weeks ago. As for pay to play? Please, grinding for stubs and flipping cards has never been easier. I was doing RIB Conquest and selling Heywards for 40k every day for 35 minutes of gameplay. If you think this is pay to play go try Madden Ultimate Team and get back to me. There you can spend hundreds of dollars and not even get the card you want.
-
I’m just gonna guess you have hundreds of dupes sitting in your binder, that if you took a day to list all of them, not quick sell, you’d have 500k+ in stubs and your hissy fit would be over.
Or like others have said, flip topps now cards. Do a RIB.
I put in a 1M buy order for trout, had about 100k left, played some more, put in a 500k Order Wagner, because I wanted to, played some more, and still have 950k stubs with 30% of TA5 to finish for 3 divisions. If you’re not printing your own stubs at this point, you’re playing wrong.
-
Since TA5 dropped, I’ve done nothing but rip TA5 packs, RIB, and program rewards and it’s been averaging about 90K a day. Just from opening packs.
If you don’t have enough stubs, that’s a “you” problem.
