Tampa bay to Montreal?

They were like 3rd lowest attendance this season, and that was with them winning the division.
2019> second worst attendance.
2018> second worst attendance.
2017> worst attendance.
I can keep going back, but I think you get the picture. They need to move into Tampa.

I just read a article that the Tampa bay rays is thinking about moving to Montreal. Tampa bay is a good sport city with the Buccs and the Lightnings are champions and the rays is the best team in the east. Is the reason why is the same situation with the A’s, that the city won’t build them a new stadium?
They are not a good sports city. They have good teams currently, but Florida period is a bad place for supporting their teams. But Montreal might not be much better.

Ever since the Expos left, Montreal has been the place other cities use as a threat to get a better deal with their own city.
No one is going to Montreal except high school seniors looking for a good time.
Say that again, but in french.

You know what happens in that part of canada? they look up mutter "its not hockey" and go back to what they were doing.their disinterest in anything not hockey is so great that when they found out they couldnt play in the spring and summer, instead of finding something else, they put wheels on the ice skates and played hockey in the parking lot.

Yeah, Montreal doesn’t seem like a good option either, especially looking at the Expos attendance figures, even before the strike of ‘94 killed interest.
Then again, I really don’t think there are any good relocation/ expansion targets on the board.

It's the worst stadium I've ever been to. Still though, they won the division and no one comes out. They dont deserve a new stadium. If the community really supported them, they would show up when they are winning, but they dont.

What about a Latin American city?
Mexico City or San Juan?
Likely not, Mexico has its own national professional league, as Canada's baseball league is a minor league.

I figure Oakland will go there if they can’t make it work soon in Oakland, but it’s still only a spot for one team. I’ve seen Portland, OR and Nashville mentioned as well but I’m not sure they even are good options.

Floridians don't go to baseball games regardless how well their teams play. TB and MIA always have low attendance!

Lol, that's being nice. They are defending AL champs. Won the pennant last year. And still no support.

Yeah but moving to Montreal? There is a reason why expos moved out, I think rays should look into Las Vegas with the A’s.

I agree! Montreal doesn't have the fan turn out as well. There are several cities that would be so much better...Vegas, Portland, Nashville, Memphis, OKC, Charlotte...
San Juan, PR would be a really cool location for a MLB team!

I swear.. if we get a Portland team. It’s unlikely but it would be the best

This combined with the terrible stadium play a huge part. I loved in the area from 1987-1999 ( the inaugural season and a few after), plus had family there for another 20 years. The location is an awful spot for anyone in Tampa, need to build a place downtown. Lightning draw well, Bucs have been up in down in attendance but they go out when the team is competitive.
-
To the dude that said people don’t care about baseball in Montreal, you’re dead wrong.
There’s a reason why Pedro Martinez thanked Expos fans when he won the World Series in Boston.
There are actually a couple of really interesting docs on the YouTube about the Expos, which I highly recommend.
Also, we don’t live in igloos.

You have no clue what you’re talking about. You should read up on the whole Expos situation. It’s clearly not because the fans didn’t love their team.
The team was owned by Jeffrey Loria which tells you everything you need to know.
I would bet Montreal would be more successful now than any of those other cities mentioned. They are ready to invest into a state of the art stadium (once it’s confirmed they’d get a team) and they would have plenty of fan support
