Ryan and Arrieta
-
Need your opinion on milestone Nolan Ryan and Jake Arrieta.
Are they good enough to make your rotation?
I picked Nolan few weeks ago and never used him because my rotation is already packed.
My only concern with him is that he is missing meta pitches like sinker, cutter..
What are your approaches on his pitching mix? Also thinking about to get Arrieta.. is he any good?
-
Jake is considered in top 5 best pitchers right now
-
Nolan Ryan has a sinker
-
If you’re on HoF or Legend both are excellent. Pinpoint and the max H/9 K/9 make Ryan far better than previous versions.

You would think Nolan wouldn’t be that good, but he is pretty tough to face in WS games for some reason. I just picked him up also, but haven’t used him.

Ryan is leaps and bounds ahead of Arrieta. I don’t know who says Arrieta is a top 5 option. I haven’t seen anyone say that
-
Arrieta is amazing, would definitely use him over Ryan at this point.

I just bought Arrieta too. He felt pretty hittable in the couple WS games I’ve played against him. It is pretty easy to green his pitches….seems like the only benefit he has. Felix doesn’t seem like he would be that good either but he does very well for me…..he has a cutter and Arrieta doesn’t though.

He’s a pitcher where you’re either going to dominate your opponent or they will light him up. Just depends on how well your opponent can turn on fastballs and sit back on breaking balls.
Ryan has insane numbers for me since using him in ranked. He’s fun to use. And this is the best control on his card we’ve had…it’s the best Nolan Ryan we’ve had. On HOF and Legend I really have to focus to get runs off him
When I’m pitching with him, if someone is squaring him up early, I’ll just turn to the pen

Nolan is only great on legend. And when I say great i mean grrrrrrrrrrrreat!

I would put Arrieta in the top 5 for sure. With that pitch mix and his high H/9 he’s amazing.

Nolan is in my top 5 still. I haven’t used Jake. His awards card from last year still makes me vomit in my mouth when I think about it.
Nolan all day
-
jake is top 10 not top 5...ryan is top 5

Arrieta was awful for me. I have a 9+ era with him. It’s tough to paint with him. Seems to miss more than others. That would cause me to be behind in counts frequently and lead to hits. He also tends to give up a ton of HR. It may be because his Sinker and FB are the same speed. Kind of like Walter. Plus his motion is easy to read.
I prefer ASG Lynn, and Peralta. You obviously need to be cautious with them, but they have been pretty dominant. -
Arrieta is 11-1 with a 2.17 ERA grinding events for me. I imagine he will translate to WS games just fine, but who knows.
