To me, one of the worst design parts of this game is how irrelevant LIVE series cards become about halfway through the game cycle. Outside of the Trout Live card, probably even sooner.

Rather than having these JUICED up version of these Topps now cards, and Finest Cards at the end of the year, why not just give these boosts to the live series cards? Combined with being able to parallel cards now, it would make the live series cards relevant again for almost the entire game cycle, and allow for investing in Live Series that might become Topps Now Cards that maybe get a temporary one month boost?, and also investing in hopes that cards get a Finest Live Series, where the live series card actually gets the final rating of a Finest card??

I'm sure others could contribute more great ideas to make this work even better, but it would be great to see these Live Series cards actually maintain their value, and make doing the collections even more worth while throughout the season.

    Just a thought.....

I'm sure it's an extremely unpopular idea, but I kind of wish the progression from live series to 99s was a bit slower and more gradual. In my perfect world, it wouldn't even be possible to earn a non-live series diamond card until at least a month or two into the game cycle and 99s would be unobtainable by anyone except the diehards who are dedicated enough to stick it out for most of the year.

The problem is the vast majority of the gaming population doesn’t play this game year round so it wouldn’t make much sense from a business perspective.

Plus those shiny new cards brings in the $$$. Nobody wants to buy packs to pull silvers

Yeah I get why they do it the way they do. For me personally though, the fast progression is the main reason that I usually don't play all year. I'd be a lot more motivated to keep going longer if my team wasn't basically as good as it's ever going to get by August or so.

I agree you do hit a road block if trying to make 1 perfect 26 man roster. After a while, there really aren't any huge improvements you can make when your team is all 97-99s. That said, a huge appeal for me and many other players is the collection aspect to the game and being able to run out several different great players at every position. It's fun, building stats for different players, experiment with roster building and matchups.

I absolutely agree that the Live Series needs a type of makeover to keep it relevant. But I love a large diversity of card options. I think your idea on LS could expand on this. Maybe have a second LS series or an evolved LS series at the halfway point. No idea how this would look but opening packs other than ballin and diamond choice packs becomes rather obsolete after some time.

I would say more than two-thirds of the player base don't play this game year-round. I would say half of them leave in September. Most others leave at the end of the real world World Series. If they held out the 99s until the end of the year they would only be a peezing and extremely small group of people and that would completely turn me off and I play through October

My suggestion in the original post isn't to not have 99's earlier. It is to potentially eliminate Topps now and Finest, and tie them directly into their LS Cards instead. You could still have POTM and 99 Flashbacks and Legends, but the idea is to give the LS more relevance, and to not have a bunch of LS and Topps Now cards that hardly anyone ever uses.

The content team is a 10/10. The gameplay team is a 6/10. Sds feeds us so much content to the point we are like addicts. I'm not complaining, I love it. At the same time they hand out so much content that no one even brings up gameplay. Sds knows what they're doing. Release shiny new cards and ignore the non pci hrs and horrible baserunning. Geniuses. We are the chumps.

It is a lot easier to create content than handle coding issues. Content will keep people interested. Gameplay will eventually level off since people get tired of playing the same game. There are tons of threads in this forum and on Reddit about in game issues.
