So, in regard to my original question...
Does anybody know why sports games online are spotty at best, but games like GTA5 and RDR2 online rarely have trouble.I thought it was a good question!

How much time have you spent putting people down online? You could choose to ignore posts you don’t agree with.

I am no expert by any means but my thought process is that you are just experiencing lag/connection issues on a more serious note. What I mean is in GTA online there is lag, you can be driving down the road and it will look like a car is gonna narrowly miss you then all of a sudden you collided. You just chalk it up to "ah whatever" because it doesnt affect you much. However a small bit of lag when a pitch is coming to you and timing is key is more noticeable. Getting killed due to lag in a FPS is a lot less detrimental then lag in a game like these where 1 mistake can cost you the game.
