There are so many factors that go into hitting online, but it's unfair to simply call it a guessing game as you did in the first post. It is anything but a guessing game, but if you are treating it as a guessing game, you are destined for failure immediately. You have to go into online at-bats with a plan of how to attack. Look for pitches/zones to attack early in the count, and if it's not there, take the pitch and work the count - you'll draw some balls and maybe be more likely to get that fastball in your preferred location later in the count.
The thing you absolutely cannot do is go up there guessing at a pitch before it's even thrown. When I pitch online and see someone swinging very early at every pitch because they are guessing to hit a fastball, I'm literally throwing offspeed every single pitch until they show me they can get on an offspeed pitch of some kind.. You need to be able to react to pitches thrown and not be guessing at them ahead of time.

I think guessing is fine if you’re only swinging at that pitch. Not guessing fastball and flailing at offspeed like a [censored]

I literally just brought in a reliever in an event game. His energy showed green. The opponent paused the game. When he unpaused, the reliever's energy was yellow. WTF.
hahaha this is a very underrated comment here

It's extremely easy to put pitches in places that are close to unhittable or have them trail out of the zone. It' just too easy, even for a scrub like me. But hitting those pitches? It's absolutely a guessing game and with no ability to eliminate anything from a guess the PCI just really doesn't help much.

Hitting online is definitely not easy, per se. But it sounds like you just need to keep getting repetitions online and getting used to online hitting. Keep at it and work on recognizing pitches and getting the PCI to the ball. There are absolutely some pitch locations that are nearly impossible to make good contact, but those are the pitches you either have to learn to lay off or even foul off (if it's 2 strikes).

You have to guess when you are trying to hit 110 mph wiffle balls. You can play your way when the connection is good. I get to play about 40% of the games like you said. These games rarely go past 5 innings. If I can read and react the game is basically over. 60% of my games are laggy, warping pitches where I can't read or react and I have wired fiber with a very good router. Asus is a very good router.
I would disagree that you are destined for failure. Made WS every season, beat a ton of ws and 12-0 banner people and lost by 1 run to a top 50 player guessing on every pitch because of the warping lag. It does make the game not fun but I wouldn't say destined for failure.

Guess Pitch???? Yeah... No. Go practice and get better friend.
Practice what? I'm not a pro ball player and neither are any of us. PCI is not sufficient for such a wide array of possibilities. It's a guessing game. Just not fun at all.
If people can score 15+ runs on legend I’m sure anybody that plays the game a moderate amount can hit the ball hard on hall of fame. It’s like everything else in life. You have to put the time in to get better at the game. If you don’t like the idea of that or you’re not willing to do that, you can always do something else.
Guys who score 15+ runs on legend don't touch grass, lack vitamin D and have never had a date
Very true I would hate to be one of those guys I’m just saying they exist

The way I look at it some people are just superhuman. Doesn't make the game any less flawed.
I don’t think it’s superhuman it’s just the time and effort they put in to being good at a game. I would never do it myself there’s a lot more to life than that but I play the game a moderate amount just like most regulars at this game and I can score on legend and even easier on HOF.

Call it a rant but this mode needs an overhaul. What I think it needs is a way to help out hitters. Maybe guess pitch option should be a thing? It is just too easy to pitch good and too hard to hit. Every game is just a complete guessing game grind fest that ends in bitterness when one player gets lucky enough to eke out a couple of garbage slap-hit seeing-eye hits or somehow hits a towering home run off a pitch nowhere near the zone. It comes down to whoever is luckier. Competitiveness is fine but we aren't pro baseball players and it is just too much of a grind. It's just not fun by its very design. And therefore ends up being a huge waste of time.
Also, to make things worse, why do I lose 8 straight yet have the same rating and still get mismatched over and over? I mean, come on.
Am I alone here? Or missing something that can actually make this anything other than an infuriating experience?
Didnt you quit last week? Get better scrub

I think my frustration comes down to timing windows when hitting. I started playing a lot in 19 and would keep going past worlds series and made top 50 once that year. It seemed like at some point last year they started messing with timing windows and its continued this year. I still play well and make ws but its not really fun. Im 17-1 this ranked season so Im winning but every game seems like its 2-1 or 1-0. Over the past week ive gone back and played 19 a decent amount and you can clearly tell the difference. In 19 i know when i got fooled and Im late or im way out in front. In 21 ill swing at a pitch that I think im crushing and Im a mile early. Then the next pitch I think Im making an adjustment and Im a mile late. Its not that the pitch speeds seem faster, its just something where the timing doesnt make much sense. I am playing on ps4 so maybe people arent seeing this on ps5.

Nice to weed out the degenerate, toxic people. Ignored
And yeah, I probably did. Because eventually you get to a point that going further is waste of time.

Totally agree, and I'm coming off a good season (13-4).
When a video game starts causing you more stress than the real world, it's time to pull back.
I'm gonna take a week or so off. -
I played 2 ABs in an events game today. The pitches went from the hand to the catcher's mitt with no graphic depiction in between. Essentially invisible pitches. I don't know if my opponent would have experienced the same because I decided to bail on the experience early, but honestly I've experienced far too much like this in online play. It's rubbish. I do enjoy playing the game, but the online experience is not always as much fun as it could be and I hope some attention is directed that way, eventually.
-
Ranked Seasons is basically the endgame for people who dabble in PvP. The rewards are not worth the grind of having to play 9 inning games versus other players end game squads to reach WS or 40 wins. It's a sweat fest on AS and HoF so I can't imagine what it's like on Legendary.
I want to like RS but I just can't, it's not worth the hassle trying to get that single card reward.

Dude, your so wrong. This is not like "everything else in life," this is a video game. In life, you practice and you should become better at just about anything, but this game is in control of every pitch and hit location, not fate or physics. You can hit the ball perfect and be out. You can miss the ball and get a hit. You can throw a perfect pitch and hit a batter (usually followed by a home run) Yea, yea, just like real life, but real life isn't controlled by preset ratings (accurate or not), animation glitches and DDA. Your either good at this, or your not.

I mean the ratings just represent how well a player does something and it is pretty accurate at how often they do it well compared to worse cards. There is a gap between good and bad players at this game but that doesn’t mean someone can make a jump and make themselves better

You show connection has been lost.
