    1. When using directional do you have to choose the direction and hold it there pre-pitch or do you move the LS when the pitch is coming in like it's zone but no PCI?

    2. Can you just push the swing buttons and not choose a direction at all?

"Pure Analog" mode allows you to just push the swing stick and not have to choose a direction with the other stick. You are choosing your direction depending upon the angle you push the swing stick. For a right-handed batter on a high outside fastball, push it to the upper right (i.e 1:00). Push it to 10:00 (mid-upper left) for a high inside sinker, etc. It definitely takes practice to figure out how to make contact and get hits on any decent pitcher. Pure Analog is actually much more complex than it is given credit for, it just has a really bad name. You will not have as much success at hitting as the button smashers, but I find "swinging" the stick/bat in Pure Analog mode to be a much more rewarding gaming experience.
