Man SDS messed this one up badly. Super bummed.

Sucks. Just sucks. I’ve been a huge Show guy for years. I’ll continue playing also because there’s nothing comparable to it. But Pinpoint pitching has ruined this game. I agree, there should’ve been tweaks to pitching and the hanging pitches on good input. But this is too much.
A. It’s not hard at all. So anyone can get it down and hit every spot they want. Not realistic by any means. This coming from a guy that pitched professionally myself. It’s pipe dream haha
B. Saves too much stamina for pitchers. Degrom isn’t going 148. He’s just not. He’s a generational talent no doubt, but cmon.
I’m not superior by any means. But I make WS every year. Go 12-0. And make pushes into the 1100’s. This year hitting is impossible. Timing windows are outta whack, pinpoint is a broken system, and the higher up you play the more toxic those Top 50-150 players get. I’m bummed man. I really have always enjoyed this game. But it’s wearing me out.
Wish there was something we could do as a community. Because I see several posts like this from guys I respect a ton on this forum and this game.

Not disagreeing but every year you have a ton of people claiming change is needed in a particular area (using the stupid "broken" gamer buzz word) so SDS pleases and then people get upset.
I've around these forums for a very long time. Almost 10 years... It's always the same story.

Oh I get it. I’m not even sure there’s anything they could even do to find a middle ground. But maybe change which pitching input does what? Pure analog is the hardest. Maybe make that have pinpoints accuracy. Idk haha. I think it’s so late in the cycle that they can’t really do anything. Just bummed about it

Pinpoint is not the issue. There’s a pretty good skill gap with pinpoint. Especially since the update making it hard to get perfects. Better players give up less runs because they don’t leave that slider over the heart of the plate every few innings. Bad players do. More of a skill gap that pure analog. Felt like the moonshot event with no control of any pitch

You had trouble with control during the moonshot event? I’ve got commons with sub 2 era thanks to that event lol

Not control issues but just giving up tons of runs in past games because of analog hanging pitches. If you’re good at the game and using pinpoint you should locate. Simple as that. Just because it’s harder for casuals to hit doesn’t mean it’s a huge mistake by sds

Regardless of hope you feel about pitching input, OP is 100% correct on stamina. 148 pitches in one gave is ridiculous.
Location of pitches is a little out of control…

Who said anything about casuals? I know plenty of folks playing this game a lot(including myself) and are top 50 dudes in years past and even a few in this years game that all say the same things about pinpoint.

It is folks like you who do not care a fig about realism that caused this problem in the first place. All you care about is skill gap, not the fact that using pinpoint allows a person to be better at pitching than anyone in the history of MLB.

Stamina is the only problem with pinpoint

All MLB pitchers leave the ball over the heart of the plate occasionally. The fact that "good players" do not, if proof that the mechanic is broken.

I agree with everything the OP said, and I know he is super talented at this game.

No, no, no.
When you can get perfect placement on 80% accuracy with perfect release that's not a skill gap. That's a broken mechanic.
This is PPP in a nutshell:
How'd you do on that test?
I got perfect.
Wow, you got every question right?
No, I got 5 wrong.Perfect needs to mean something.

seems like you enjoy pinpoint..i see more perfect perfects on pinpoint than pure analog...when pinpoint was supposedly harder so that's why they gave the benefit of most accurate.

Just a thought - the "skill gap" in pitching should be pitch mix and locations to keep hitters off-balance, not the "skill" in repetitively doing a gesture on a thumbstick.

True, but before pinpoint it didn't matter how good you were at keeping hitters off balance or mixing your pitches. 7 out of 10 pitches in MLB 20 would just float down the middle regardless of input

Thank you dude. Hope your WS run went well yesterday bro!

I like pitching. Pitching is what has always been my strongest part of the game. But it hasn’t really been fun ONLY having 2-1 games. Even if I’m dominating on the mound to be honest. Hitting is what will keep this game fun, as much as I hate admitting it haha. I hope it gets better for this community. This game can be extremely fun when it’s working the right way!

I am glad they tried to fix this issue. It was needed. I just think there has to be a middle ground of some sort with it. Guys shouldn’t carve you up only on the basis that they can flip their thumb. It should take more skill to be perfect on the bump.
