Votto lightning

Booo booo boo
-
At this point of the year the only cards that will be better than what we already have are Griffey, Mays, Mantle, Aaron, Trout, and Tatis. Use cards you like instead of the meta. This game is much more enjoyable that way
-
Yeah, I just got Murray installed at first so I don't see me playing with this Votto. It won't stop me from doing the program because I may need them for a collection at some stage. Since it is a 99 I guess that we won't be getting a Sig Series or MVP card for him this year.
I was always going to be more interested in the other choices more than the lightening card anyway.
-
I get people being bummed about another first baseman but the man earned that lightning card. If they didn't give it to him they would have people on here going "does SDS even watch baseball?". It's kind of a lose-lose everytime except for cards like Schwarber or Tatis last year.
-
Maybe they'll give him 90 speed and a CF secondary, a catcher secondary, or a RP secondary with a cutter, sinker and outlier on a slurve that comes in at 102mph with 99 break. You know, because why not?

I have every diamond at at least p1. So I use them all. That’s not the issue. Just saying this one will likely be pretty far down the list of cards that will get continued use. And there will definitely be better cards along the way than just the ones you mentioned. The Schwarber card last month is a great example of a surprise card that got a lot of use because it had secondary at a thin position. This one can’t offer that.

All year SDS has chosen from the MLB players of the month for the lightning card. That meant either Ohtani and Votto. I think they probably could’ve looked beyond those two this month. Even if it was for one of the pitchers of the month - Buehler or Taillon.
-
Not many cards are going to be much better than what we already have.
-
As an offline player and one that does not flip cards or play the market I only have two 99 cards in my inventory and they are both first basemen. This will be my third.
-
LFFGGGGGGG I’m so excited for this card dudes been one of my favorite players in the MLB forever and I absolutely take with his swing in this game. Huge dub right here

That’s definitely not the case. There will be lots of end game 99s still to come, especially later in the cycle when we get to the finest cards.
-
So how is Murray at 3rd?
-
A lot of options at 1st base, yes.
But, in my opinion, that makes the game better / more interesting. How boring is it to play the same team over and over and over? The higher amount of top notch cards at each position, the better.
Just my opinion.

You’re not wrong but I think this early I would’ve rather seen a player at a position that isn’t already so stacked. Or even one of the MLB pitchers of the month (Buehler and Taillon) instead of a position player.

I agree with him though. There will be more desirable players or players that you do better with but looking at the 99 cards that are already released, no new 99 cards will significantly better. With the batting attributes that we are already seeing the only real way they will be better is possibly fielding or speed.
Is 125 contact or power that much better then 115 contact and power? I doubt it.
-
I think it’s a pretty good choice. He’s a popular player with a great swing. He always gets the same awards card in the game with just decent power. This one should have really good power attributes so giving him this card over his normal good should be fun. Although there a possibly a dozen good choices at first base he will stack up against most of them. At this point in the game cycle it’s tough to release a Pom that will be the best overall at a position because the game is flooded with great cards already.

They’ll all be comparable. It will just be preference really.

Doesn’t have to be the best but even this early in the cycle there are already at least five 99 1B. And he is not going to have a secondary position.

SDS just follows MLBs choice for POTM so why are people complaining? It was either Ohtani, who already has 4 (?) diamonds in game, or Votto, so Votto it is. Simple.
