The thing The Show lacks..deep cerebral play with a lot of moving pieces and "theoretical" strategies to make you better through inherent Soccer concepts..is its advantage when latency raises its ugly head.

Because of the very simple interface. 3 different players to control, but never in parallel. You pitch, you swing, you catch..sometimes you run to a base. I believe it's the simplicity of the controls that allow TS to survive lag (and such) with relatively little "obvious" fall off in the game.

I've never noticed serious lag effect in game play. Sure it's got to be there, but the animation (in my experience) doesn't do too bad hiding it.

In FIFA When you are controlling, potentially, 11 players on the pitch almost simultaneously while also focusing on the multitude of Tactical options on the fly it's a whole lot of stuff to be cognizant of if you want to be successful. Similar with Madden. A lot of computer instructions.

In FIFA or Madden a little lag makes the online play downright unplayable. Not an exaggeration.

For instance in FIFA all those cool ball moves you practice to death to get an edge..just quit working. Players blatantly speed-up/slow-down..to the extent it's pathetic to watch.

SDS uses the KISS method in their offering and it does make for a better gaming experience when the Gods of Lag come to call.

I have the opposite take on that actually. As a long time Madden player, last year I played close to 200 online games between regs, seasons, and draft... I never once thought the lag effected my play. With The Show in online games whether or not it effects gameplay weird things happen all the time. When things happen like my feilder freezes for a second... during a play... I assume that is lag. Am I wrong??? Is that just a glitch that happens all the time... because these weird lags only seem to happen to me in online play like ranked or BR. Just last night my 2nd basemen froze for a couple seconds and couldn't run to tag a baserunner stuck in a pickle. A lot of people playing regularly complain about disconnect losses and they get losses regularly, but if you've been a reg. on the forums... you know for every person that complains about the losses one is getting the win. I'm in that boat of being called a cheater because I get wins in 90% of my disconnects... I can promise you I don't even know how to intentionally disconnect, but with kids these days anything short of them winning is cheating.

Way off base. Lag effects every segment of this game. Hitting a 99 sinker requires far less lag than an off tackle play in football. Lag effects hitting, pitching, baserunning and fielding. It is very noticeable when the game connection is poor.

I'll be honest, I can't remember seeing a fielder freeze (even briefly). Of course my eyes aren't as fast as they once were...could have blinked and missed it.

Now, are their glitches (perhaps intentional) to support an outcome? I believe that to be true across the entire online spectrum in TS..regardless of how fast/slow your connection is.

It's been awhile (4 or 5 years) since I played Madden. Do play FIFA a whole lot though. When the lag is bad, you might as well just turn off the game. It's very obvious in pretty much all aspects. Almost painful to watch.

    Yeah..not disagreeing with that.

Just saying TS (imo) has so many less software instructions driving the animation. Pretty much mono-a-mono for the most part. Pitch/swing/run.

FIFA it's 11v11 and stuff going on all over the field constantly. I'm guessing the more code instructions firing the more cumbersome (obvious) the lag becomes.

This is a good point... Madden and Fifa are not games where a tiny lag matters or is even noticed. In this game every little second matters. I had to buy a $500 dollar monitor just to hit fastballs online this year... never even thought about buying a monitor other than this game.
