On current paces it's more likely than you think. far from a guarantee but he'd have upward of 80 more innings than deGrom, which absolutely matters

He ascended to super saiyan level making him ineligible for any type of regular season awards

As long as deGrom pitches the minimum innings to be eligible for everything he will win the award. Wheeler is having a great year(wish he was still a Met, imagine him and deGrom at the top of a rotation) but he isn't even close to as dominant as deGrom has been.

On current paces Wheeler is 4th imo. Woodruff and Gausman also being ahead of him

according to bWAR Wheeler is at 5.0, deGrom at 4.9. fWAR has Wheeler at 4.5 and deGrom at 4.8. They've been very comparable in all stats that aren't ERA (where deGrom dominates) and counting stats(where wheeler dominates)

Very true but I think those stats make it appear like a closer race than it really is. Baseball is big on history. Wheeler is have a spectacular year. As of right now deGrom is having a historical one

@ImDFC_PSN
In 27.2 IP more than deGrom Wheeler has given up:
50 more hits
19 more runs
15 more walks
1 less Strikeout
DeGrom K/9: 14.3. WHIP: 0.55
Wheeler K/9: 10.9 WHIP: 0.97look at it however you want deGrom has had a much better year than Wheeler which isn't a slight on Wheeler, deGrom is just the best pitcher in baseball right now
