Thank you for the gameplay updates. You listened to the community and spent the time to update this. I don't play any other video games and I bought a PS5 to maximize this game too. Releasing this game on many consoles and have the additional features was super ambitious and I am sure people were forced to do A LOT more with a lot less during Covid-19 since this seems to be motto for corporations.
What a virtue signalling cringe worthy post. I honestly vomited in my mouth…and then out onto the floor…a lot.
I hope you have a great weekend buddy. I have empathy for hard work and if you think you can do better then you should create the new MLB game.

Contact swing fix was mentioned in the 2nd stream of the year. Maybe they took their time to make sure the fix wouldn’t break any other hitting aspects.
I have posted massive rants about this man from frustrations and what you say makes a lot of sense. I appreciate thoughtful post.

tired of hearing covid be used as an excuse for companies like SDS who easily could have operated like normal the whole time safely by just wearing mask and staying home if you are feeling sick. I have worked the entire time since covid in a much more risky field than a company that literally 95% of the work being done is at a desk in front of computer where its so easy to work and isolate from other workers. I appreciate the update and not complaining about the game... just frustrating hearing all the sallies crying covid and not working through it.
What if they mess up the code and no-one can play the game. Hey I respect that you work in a high risk field, but if you are a doctor you wouldn't be the world expert in cold fusion right? Look at the title. You can blame the corporations all you want, I am just thanking the people that worked in this environment. IF anyone thinks software engineers are all Bill Gates, then they are delusional with the power structure.
If they mess up the code... it had nothing to do with covid. Im not saying I don't appreciate the workers who worked through this... because I definitely do, I'm saying I don't think SDS is a risky field to work in during Covid and should not be an excuse in any way to put out a half effort product.
They have to support like 4 more different consoles? I am not a software developer and I don't know the difference. I design databases and build analytics. If someone asks me to support Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI, they are quite different with the same base SQL code. It would take me a lot more time and maybe I am just incompetent.
Ahh good ole Tableau. Used to sell against that when I was with Hitachi Vantara and pitching our Pentaho offering. Was tough to sell when imo, Tableau had a far superior product lol

I wonder if those complaining so much realize that most games right now don't have near the polish or progression that would normally be seen. Remote work with software devs has slowed even the biggest companies, and the fact they went from 2 to 4 consoles is pretty impressive too. Perfect game? Nope. But at least they're listening with the limits they have. Oh, and even movies right now are WAY behind schedule... Top Gun 2 was supposed to be out last year, now not until November.

I understand you. I was the one creating posts in the tech test complaining about it. I’m happy we have a fix, whatever changes they made to the code will carry on for future iterations of the game, so I’ll happily take it a lil later than desired but well done.

I’m glad I could help.
That vomit was likely the nicest and most honest thing to come out of your mouth in a while… but keep your head up, little buckaroo; I’m sure your life will get better some day real soon and you won’t feel the need to be such a miserable little [censored] all of the time.
Have a lovely day

Yeah, I'm a teacher and we kept our school open mostly during covid. It's been a convenient excuse, and I wouldn't let these devs get away with it.
They're making WAAAAY more money having 2 generations of consoles and Xbox added this year.
They f'ed up RTTS, did NOTHING for Franchise, and servers were wack a month into the season.
No excuses.
Worst thing -- they actively avoided the words "sorry" and "apologize" when they finally addressed the issue. Pure corporate trash.

That was kinda the point I was making. Complaining happens, but when they listen and work towards progression and give people a better product, we should at least tip our hat to that.

Not sure I like the pinpoint changes or not. Only played event games and these common pitching cards have terrible control. I would imagine my control will be more or less unchanged with Lee, Glavine, Rivera, etc. But we will see.
I played 2 ranked games and cliff lee was killing me on hof. But I used oswalt and preister and it was easy. They bullpen with less control are a little harder to use

“Thanks for the gameplay update”
Sorry but this game is terrible and every tweak or update makes it worse.

That's called regression. IT phenomenon where fix-causes-breakage.
If you put priority on thorough and comprehensive regression testing you avoid that.

I am not saying you are incorrect, but can you elaborate on the updates today that make it worse? I am a BR player and my biggest frustration was throwing sliders towards a the batter's knee and he fouls it off 8 times with contact swing and then hits a bomb with someone like LS Sano.

if they can't handle it.... they should not have the sole rights to mlb content. If other companies could compete these guys would do better and thats an issue. Its the same monopoly on content EA has gotten too comfortable with... if there are no competitors allowed... its too easy to succeed. competition keeps companies accommodating their customers.

I don't know and maybe you have more insight than me, but I think sports games are in general winner takes all due to economics. It doesn't matter if it is only licensed to one company or not. There have been many other baseball games in the past from other companies just like football and basketball. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world by a million miles and its main game is FIFA. I have played PES and it still kinda exist. I believe COD spends ~$200 million for development and marketing per game they release and they have 2-3 different companies/team working on development towards a new game at any given time. I would love to hear and learn about your insights for sports games because it seems like you know a lot.

If you really take a step back the game is a masterpiece that needs to be fine tuned. I applaud SDS and their efforts. On top of everything else they allow you to play the game without spending money.

I can top that.
This game is more than a masterpiece. Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto #1, The Beatles White Album..those are all mere masterpiece's.
This game, please don't over simplify it's very gift to humanity. It is a symbol of all that is pure and beautiful in this world. It gets me out of bed in the morning. It keeps me putting one foot in front of the other.
No, my friend, I understand your reasoning..but don't put this game in the same context with mere mortal creations. It is so much more than that.

I understand your reasoning too and may I ask how can they improve based on the circumstance? I don't think anyone is saying that this game is perfection because then nothing else will be created after that. If we critique other people, we should at least have the decency to provide examples where things are not perfect or broken.

Well, my personal beef is the entire engine is quite a little bit on the randomized results side and often spins off into a twilight zone of head-scratching, wtf-inducing rogue animation that doesn't fit the instruction you input through your controller.
All that aside though (because addressing that is a rather non-small task) I would like to see more conquests. I just quit playing a couple hours ago 'cause there really wasn't anything left that I wanted to accomplish right now.
Conquests are always worth a few hours of lost time. Never have turned one down.
Moments are just a slot-machine pull.
I really wish they didn't so obviously feel like that. I think there is so much about Moments that could be quite compelling. I mean, actually playing out a Moment in baseball history is educational, nostalgic, and in a "butterfly effect" sort of way transcends time.
But, once you jump in and experience the complete lack of any sort of immersion..just randomly generated outcomes..they lose their luster. I think they have the potential to be more fun and absorbing than any other piece single-player mode in the game. But that can't happen until developers can produce a version that feels like it's the player/controller dictating the outcome and not the AI.
Not trying to be critical, I just see an opportunity for a pretty compelling and "in theory, but not in practice" part of the game to rise up from the ashes. Like a Phoenix that has to be completely re-invented, but would be well worth the effort for this particular player.
