I am a perennial Show player and have been since the game's release. It's one of the main reasons I stuck with PlayStation during the console wars of the early 2000s.
Really don't have time or desire to play against the computer so my go-to has always PvP in online rated or DD. I probably have thrown hundreds of thousands of pitches and had tens of thousands of ABs over the years.
The one fact about this game that has held true over the years is that this is not an actual representation of the game of baseball. It is simply a simulated baseball experience that you must use mathematical equations to decipher whether or not you should have been rewarded for a swing or pitch..
Up until this year you would hit a perfect meter or analog throw and hang one down the middle. Last year they implemented the perfect contact but it has anything but perfect results.
You may have a 50-50 chance to get a hit on good contact and that's being gracious, prob more like 30-70.
You are rewarded for swinging terribly by receiving an unethical amount of foul balls and punished for good contact and timing.
All the "pro" players have those team showdown perks active and pack increased odds. They are not an accurate representation of the game. The same swings common users put out, end up having a far different outcome than what you see in their gameplay.
The outcome is simply not in the user's hands, that's why there is so much pushback towards the gameplay. A simple adjustment to the sliders regarding solid human hits and foul balls would make a world of difference in the PvP.
I don't think anyone can honestly say that they have fun playing against another person or that an actual representation of the user input well decide the outcome.
When you win or get a hit you end up thanking the game rather than feeling good about doing something right. Mostly it's just frustration and hearing the SDS simps in your ear "that's baseball" "get gooder"
In reality, there is no way to "get gooder" you're forced to do mathematical equations justifying the outcome of a swing.
I ditched his game in 19' and the marketing for the perfect swings pulled me back in. I cannot stress the euphoric and liberating feeling that swept over me after I sizzled this game disc across the room.
To all those struggling with extreme frustration, don't pull a Jesus Lazerado and break your hand or even a controller. Break whats already broken, take it out on the game and nothing else

Unfortunately uninstalled and moved on. I loved this game and the content was great! What's the point if all it's good fo,r is being used against the computer?
Will take a miracle marketing campaign to get me back and an ungodly amount of good reviews on user input controlling the outcome of PVP.
This is 1 of 2 games that I play all year and I know I won't be missed... Especially by those simps or bots that are paid to defend the unreasonable gameplay.
I hope these post helped those that struggled with the frustration this game brings and their love for baseball being mocked by it

Hey man, what version do you like the most since the newer ones you aren’t liking ?

I love people that make posts that are well thought out and detailed but then add something like if you don't agree with me you are a bot or work for SDS. Blows all credibility out the window.

to be fair, there are a lot of people that would discredit his opinion without any counter thoughts on this game or try to get a rise out of him with the good ol "tldr you suck get over it". there's a lot of trolls or those of blind faith on these forums.

I simply put in ONE sentence what I knew some trolls response would be... Only said that to discourage those particular comments from coming to have a logical discussion... It seems to have worked??

The show 12 H2H hitting rewards were the best. Obviously a ton of other problems but yeah it was before online really took off and DD didn't exist.
All of these problems that people complain about is not something crazy complicated to fix. All they have to do is adjust the sliders on foul balls and solid human hits
Be honest with yourself and think about how many foul balls you get per AB on terrible SWINGS. Really not a hard concept for people to be rewarded for a good swing and penalized for a bad one.
My point is that there are multiple chances PER AB, for the user to record an out.. Rather than having a good timing/contact swing go for an out.
The worst part about squaring up a ball and recording an out in this game, is that 95% of the time you hit it right at someone. What happened to the old expression "he took that hit away"
Literally all they have to do is tune the sliders and then the user well feel like the outcome is in their control. It would eliminate 90% of the complaints..

I get frustrated as well, but baseball is basically a game of mathematical equations based on a ton of variables and outcomes. And even then, there's going to be randomness. I don't know how you expect a true to life representation of the game without it centering on math/physics and yes, randomness.. And you can't say that every time the swing variable is X that it results in the Y outcome because you remove randomness which exists in the real game. And that's just the basics of trying to re-create baseball in video game form. You also have to factor in the attributes of the players and how they interact with each other or else they would be meaningless.
At the end of the day I think you have slightly unrealistic expectations as baseball is a tremendously hard game to re-create. There's pretty much no way to create the game without it being math centric. It'd be an even worse experience.

This year's game really did a good job weeding out the Simulation Franchise players from the casual online people.....Franchise and its core gameplay is the best it has ever been and I'm guessing from all the complaints about servers and losing DD pokimon cards, you online arcade players aren't happy. So I hope this continues going forward, keep maturing the Show into a Simulation baseball game instead of a simple pick up and play card collecting arcade game. Thanks SDS!

Of course a clown such as yourself attacks a person's character and totally ignores all topics of discussion..
I know it's such a terrible concept for you to imagine people being penalized for a bad swing and rewarded for a good one.If that makes it an arcade game then so be it. You are playing a video game against another human being, user input should be the deciding factor.
If people wanted to see a random result from a baseball hitting a bat, then they would watch a real game. If we wanted a simulated baseball experience, we would play the computer.
There's absolutely no reason why people are being punished for good timing and contact, then get rewarded for terrible swings with a foul ball or weak base hit..
You don't need to have your PCI near the ball to hit a HR and you don't even need to have good timing or be anywhere near the ball with your PCI to get a foul.
It's because of people like you, the bunt cheese becomes a factor every few years and why the game is stuck with these sliders settings.
Why not just create a separate ranked seasons mode where user input is the key? That way clowns like you, who need bumpers to play the game, can still play against other people and feel good?

that's where algorithm and RNG takes place and has for years, so what about when pitcher has perfect release and perfect timing on their pitch and hits intended spot?? Your telling me batter input should over ride all that?

There is a reason why some baseball players make it to the major leagues and others don't. It's because of a thing called skill gap.
So what if a guy is batting .700? That just means he is timing the ball correct and putting his PCI in the proper location.
You see 1 diving defensive play out of 50 games played. Why not make people actually play defense to take away a hit? If you are all about what happens in real baseball then you should want to see more people take away a hit.
Don't even get me started on the animation dives. You literally don't even have to push a button and the computer will make a diving play for you.
95% of your foul ball swings is a terrible swing and should be recorded as an out or swing and miss. There's no reason, especially since pinpoint pitching exist now, for well-timed swings and contact to be hit right at someone so they don't have to move.
I know it's such a crazy concept to want user input to decide the outcome.

It's physics. Doesn't matter if a picture perfectly locates a ball, if a barrel and timing is correct the ball is going to go somewhere.
Did you see Rafael Devers hit Aroldis Chapman's 103mph fb? Doesn't matter how perfect of a pitch, if you square something up, there's nothing you can do about it.
Plus all of this gets fixed with just sliders being tuned!! Not allow so many foul balls and to have solid human hits boosted..
People will get used to being penalized for swinging poorly and stop swinging at [censored]. It will also cause a lot more Ks from swing-and-misses and people getting painted. It will even itself out, it's not like this is going to change the game radically.
Not a terrible thought for them to give us Hall of Fame event, with the sliders tuned differently, and ask for a poll to which the community felt had the best result

Update; after taking two weeks off I decided to purchase the game again for the following reasons.
I spent too much money on stubs at the beginning of the year 2 not get something from it
I have collected every show disc dating all the way back to 07
In the most recent title updat,e it seems that they almost speak directly at me, when they say hitting issues will be addressed
Lastly, they had a used copy at GameStop for 35 bucks when I was buying my new black controller
I'm just going to go on Discord and find a online franchise with the sliders adjusted for user input deciding the outcome. Hopefully playing catch-up on the monthly Rewards and finding a suitable online League will kill the time until the next title update
I really do love this game and I hope my Hiatus is what I needed start enjoying it again

Weren't you the one that suggested I use Discord for an online franchise with adjusted sliders? I read the patch notes today and I saw they are going to address the hitting so I figured why.
