I guess I’m just getting old and sucking but it seems like 90% of players, if not more, can’t hit sinkers inside. The elite few, good for you guys. You have great vision and can see sinkers out of the hand.
To the normie like myself, we are screwed.
Players (including myself) have trouble with the sinker because of the broken pitching mechanic. When the sinker leaves the hand it goes higher resembling a curve or other offspeed pitch. Doesn't take much hesitation to then be late or completely miss an inside sinker. Sinkers are the most OP pitch in the game by far simply because of a flaw in the coding. Why can't the pitch leave the hand on the same plane as the 2 seam?
People that can hit inside sinkers are most likely selling out for them. That's pretty much the only way you can hit them.
Yea as someone who exclusively threw a 2-seam/sinker FB as my fastball in college (top 10 school). I threw low 90's and 95 is the hardest I've ever thrown. If the ball came out of my hand like off speed I would be considered a wizard and would have signed a multi million $ deal and not be on this forum.
Instead I simply faded out and wasn't good enough for the bigs. It happens. It's why I'm self proclaimed Washed.
I only bring up my resume to say that I have intimate knowledge of throwing sinkers. I think I gave up 2 HR my entire college career because of my heavy fastball. That's in like 100 games pitched. I wasn't a strike out pitcher because my slider was average. Didn't have that punch out pitch so I relied on my sinker. HOF/Legend would likely be way better without these physic defying pitches.

I just don’t understand why Edward Cabrera can consistently throw 100 mph sinkers but guys like Zack Wheeler and Jose Alvarado max out at 97 with their sinkers. And it also makes zero sense how a sinker acts NOTHING like a 2-seam FB in the game when they are the SAME PITCH in real life. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! Doesn’t anybody else realize this?!? Ferrari, Le Tigre, Blue Steel, there all the same look!!!

Because Edward Cabrera has outlier on his sinker and those other guys don't.

It’s because they made his sinker 93-100 and the other guys 93-97. Alvarado throws everything 99-102 so there’s no reason for him to top out at 97. Wheeler also isn’t topping out at only 97 with his sinker, that’s his average velo. It’s poor programming. Another note: a 98 mph sinker should be the same perceived velocity as a 98 mph 4 seam, a 98 mph 2 seam, or a 98 mph cutter. Yet these pitches will feel like: sinker 102, 4 seam 98, 2 seam/cutter 94

It's because they gave Edward Cabrera the outlier quirk as I stated above....the outlier quirk allows a pitch to go past it's "max" velocity.
Just like Alvarado can go 102 on his fastball, he has outlier on that pitch.
It's not "poor" programming if it's intentional. Whether it should be that way is obviously debatable.

Pinpoint pitching needs to be nerfed a bit. I'm hitting just fine on HOF when I'm getting more than 1 pitch to hit every 3 innings. Against Cabrera, Glavine, etc. in the hands of someone who knows how to sequence and has mastered pinpoint, it's pretty brutal. Sinkers that start out over the plate at your head end up shaving the inner corner for a strike. Unless you're sitting on exactly that pitch, you're basically never going to hit it.
I think part of the problem is pinpoint, in its current iteration, makes it too easy to get a perfect result. I'm getting consistent perfects with like 78% motion accuracy. It should need to be like 95% or above. I love its addition to the game, because last year was a nightmare trying to pitch, but it needs some refinement. You can see it in the OPS's of people in CS and above. OPS's in the .700's when last year below 1.000 was a rarity. .700 and you weren't even smelling CS.

First game on HOF. 34 K's, 7 hits, 1 run. 13 innings.
I had Pedro. They had Edward.
I couldn't hit anything with heat. They couldn't hit anything offspeed.
This is enjoyable? Lol
I made it to DS and stopped playing Ranked. All star is way more fun

Yeah that Edward Cabrera is nasty just faced him for the 1st time today 100 mph Sinker lord have mercy luckily I still won. Games on higher difficulty really can be pitcher duels who makes the 1st mistake gotta keep a cool head .

I don't know why they got Archie Bradley CH averaging 70 mph in online rated games.

Not at all.. unless you enjoy absolutely zero offense and 40 or so combined strike outs between both teams
-
Another 3 hit, 34 strike out game.
Get me the F off this [censored] difficulty

Wasn’t asking “how”, was asking “why?” I understand the outlier. Yes you’re right I shouldn’t have said poor programming because they programmed it correctly to work as they intended. But the fact that they intended to make it that way is where my issue the lies

Me on HOF:
Except... I would have used contact swing for a double.

Edward cabrera sinkers look like a blitzball the way it moves

I played that 42 event on HOF to get the pack. It was awful grinding that out. No idea how anyone can enjoy HOF.
I will say I got more used to it over time and ended up winning like 6 in a row once I got better with the pitch speeds. But still, overall NOT fun basically having to guess at pitches half the time.

HOF takes a little practice this year for sure. My first couple games were all 2-1, 3-2 type games. Now that I’ve strictly been playing there I can put together good offensive games. Still definitely have those low scoring games when facing guys like Grochett, Cabrera, but it opens up the more you play. A few games back I won a game 12-7. Part of the problem is it doesn’t seem like you get rewarded as much as you should on HOF for making solid contact.
-
First game of new season I won 1-0 in the 10th. Glavine had 20 Ks for me. But I probably wouldve done better had I practiced first, got used to all star again from the event

This is true. Doing all kinds of different stuff in the game is the worst thing for RS gameplay. That’s why I usually grind one thing at a time and not go from one mode to the other

I have not reached HOF yet. only played 15 games. so far undefeated, but i have not faced any competition whatsoever. looking forward to testing out HOF. looks more difficult than past years but i think it will be fun. pinpoint is kinda OP- this is the first time i’ve ever seen the meta dominated by pitching. Not realistic for almost every single pitch to be spotted on the black all game long
