PS5 stick drift.

Recently I've started to have some stick drift in my right stick, which is making it completely impossible to pitch using pinpoint, as it randomly starts my motion before im ready. So I've had to switch over to pitching with meter like a stooge.

I searched it and seen its a known issue with these ps5 controllers and tried the few things they had listed as fixes( software updates, resetting, cleaning the area, etc.)

I really don't feel like sending the controller in to be repaired and I don't want to, but will if I have to, buy a new controller. So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and possibly did anything else to fix the problem?

I had the same issue with an Xbox controller once. It happens just from a lot of usage sometimes. It was driving me nuts in NHL because it was making my center move way too early for faceoffs which resulted in losing move of them. I lucked out at the time because GameStop was running a deal where you could trade in an old controller and get a brand new one for $30. I ended up just doing that. I know the PS5 is brand spanking new so I wouldn’t want to go out and buy a new controller so soon if I were in your shoes. Any chance you might have a local tech repair shop around that can open it up and see if it’s a mechanical issue?

Buy a controller from Walmart, get the dirt cheap warranty. If you get stick drift take it to the store and swap it out.
I've done this once already. These PS5 controllers are junk.

Yea true. Sucks spending more money on something brand new. I just looked up the GameStop trade in value for the PS5. It’s currently $30 store credit, $33 store credit if you’re a pro member. You can definitely get away with trading it in with a little stick drag. They won’t notice. Could put that towards a new controller (if they have any in stock) to take some of the sting off lol

I always prepare the Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. No stick drift.

When they buy products like consoles and controllers from customers they make sure it turns on and works and that’s all they need to buy it from you. After that they send it out to a facility that refurbishes the product to like new condition and then they redistribute the products to the stores based on inventory needs. Nobody gets screwed over.

That's good to hear. I've got a PS5, so it's not really a matter of if but when, my controller decides to malfunction.

No one gets screwed over, haha that's funny. I ordered 2 PS4 controllers for my son and they both came in looking like they got drug by a car down a gravel road. I took them back and they acted like I did the damage. I went the F off.

Yes I purchased my PS5 in December and added an extra controller the same week. When I play with one, it works perfect, when I play with the other I can’t hit because the stick drift causes my pci to drift and shake making it impossible yo hit. Luckily I got the black PS5 controller Friday so I have 2 good and I’ll send my bad one in to Sony.

I've gone through 4-5 controllers in probably 6-7 years it's wicked common don't buy a cheap one either make sure it's a Sony DualShock or you will regrett it.. I've always thought controllers are were Sony makes the most money and it seems there not looking to change that with the PS5

Im rough as they come on controllers. I own 3 ps5 controllers and knock on wood. No problems. I actually bragged to a friend about the quality of them compared to previous PlayStations. Guess it’s just a case of luck.

Call up Playstation and submit a ticket. They full blown replaced mine and I haven't had issues.

I know they'll replace them. I had them replace 3 PS4 launch controllers due to the awful rubber [censored] they put on the thumb sticks

Sounds like a crappy experience but the exception is not the rule. Doesn’t negate what the usual policy is, and to be honest I’m surprised they would take something that looks so beaten up.
