Curious as to people’s positions on whether to sell before or after the updates?

I have modest positions (10-30 mostly) in several golds I believe should head up tomorrow, however I’ve been wrong before, and I’d be shocked if I was right on 100%. These are not “surprise” names: Semien, Bryant, Kimbrel, Barnes, Lynn, Glasnow etc. I bought the vast majority for well under 2k. my question to those who have been around longer than me is whether you hold through the update or whether you sell to take gains with cards when they hit 4.5k+

It’s not a perfect science and player you feel is a no doubt upgrade keep and quick sell when they go diamond. Any player that you have a slight doubt won’t go diamond sell for the highest market value. Will you be wrong in a few? Sure. But I always feel better with for sure profits

I take the majority of my stub balance of 2 million and put in low ball buy orders on cards that might go diamond. If they don't I cancel the buy orders. If they do I leave them because some people sell a diamond for 3000 rather than quickselling. That is how I make stubs. My goal is not to hold the cards at update but to have a lot of buy orders in below 5000 that allow for max profit.

I personally do not sell my gold investments unless they get above 5555 stubs. I also don't mind the idea of a long term investment though, especially after I have completed the live series collection. If you need the stubs, this strategy might not be the best one to follow as it is more reward but also more risk.

One thing to keep in mind (you might have already seen this happen) is that if a player is "expected" to go diamond and doesn't, his price will tank after the update due to panic selling. At that point you can buy up more cards and wait for the next update.

I have bought players I think have a possibility to go Diamond cost below 1,500. One that is below the quick sell value. A few I bought around 1,800 nothing over 2k. I do not see Bryant, Kimbrel or Barnes going diamond on this update. You never know. If they do not go you can always wait another 2 weeks. I do think Bryant at some point will go Diamond if he keeps playing the way he is. I like low risk and high rewards. If none of the guys I invested in go Diamond I will still sell back with a small profit or keep for the next update. I have invested in two silver I think go Gold. Got those for 250 or less.

I typically sell off on the hype for a guaranteed profit then scoop up on the week's busts that didn't go diamond when people panic sell then rinse and repeat.

This is my method typically. Nothing like scooping up golds that were 4K a day ago that are now below 2k. Because right before the next update they will shoot back up. I operate between the low sell off panic market after updates then I resell days before the “guaranteed,” diamond upgrade roster update. This is a 1500-2k profit margin on each card. Very low risk. Easy to make a steady 150-200k every two weeks for me. It’s like my two week stub salary.

If one of my guys dont go up I hold on to them till next update unless you need the stubs. for example I have over 100 Kimbrels that i got for around 1200 each and i know he probably wont go diamond this update but maybe next one. Also bought a ton of gausmans at quicksell when he was a 80 because i had a feeling later on he could go diamond and now i am stocked up on him. I think it is worth waiting even if they dont go this time.

The only problem with this is the 10-30 comment. Very rarely do they update more than 2 players to Diamond during an update.

That's what I've been doing with a few players like Jose Abreu, I'm sitting on like 20 but I'm fairly confident he goes diamond at some point, but probably not this one.

Best way to make stubs imo every year
