How do people freeze online games it has happened to me way too many times

I have had this happen maybe 10 times so far playing online. I don’t see anything the opponents are doing to cause this, it has happened in all different scenarios for me. I think it just glitches and happens randomly. Hopefully there’s a patch for it soon.

my game will freeze on me a decent amount but if i disconnect my controller it usually fixes it. my controller at times has a mind of its own or buttons stick so idk if thats why it will freeze my games
