Let me start by saying I’m 63-8 in regular online rated play. I only play Online Rated with the Phillies and I am SO tired of playing the Yankees, Dodgers and Padres. Occasionally I’ll see the Cardinals, Braves and Mets but it’s mostly those top 3 teams. Are y’all scared to use your REAL team because they aren’t good and you can’t win with them? I’m sure I’ll get hate on this post but idc it’s so annoying playing the same teams and pitchers every day.

Stay away from Madden then...NHL or....wait. I can't believe people are using the highest rated % teams.
Was waiting for this comment. Yes I play those as well, and yes I know it’s the same issue. Doesn’t negate the fact that it’s still an issue. People are too worried about rank. Play with the team you like and learn to play with them.

I do? I literally only use the Phillies and I am just outside the top 100 sooooo yeah…
Your game history says you use the Mets.. IDK if that is online but it sure looks like you're playing other humans so....

I don’t play online rated but I have to agree with you. I’m a Phillies fan and it would pain me to play with another team. I despise all those teams you mentioned and to sit through a nine inning game with the Mets, Yankees or Braves would be torture. Yes, they’re probably better suited to win an online rated game but I have civic pride and couldn’t do it.

See this is all that needed to be said. I pride myself on using ONLY Philly teams when I ply sports games especially online vs other people. I know there’s something to be said about competitive advantage by using stacked teams and I don’t have a problem beating them but it’s just so frustrating to always play the same teams against the same pitchers. Just had to play Vinny Velo vs Cole who had 1/4 stamina left for the 15th time because people just abuse abuse abuse. It’s annoying.

This is a valid complaint, and a solution does exist, so this post isn’t a useless complaint. The older Madden games used to give you a slight boost in rating points earned/lost if the team’s overall you used is worse than your opponents. Didn’t stop people from using OP teams, but it did give incentive to mix it up. Could be implemented by SDS to make rated better.

Does anybody play with every mlb team like I do ?? All 5 starting pitchers of any team.. Just wondering!! Lots of online games I play are the same teams and Ist and 2nd pitchers that were mentioned !! Try it u guys won’t get bored from playing the same team over and over !!

So what are you saying? A lot of people use the Phillies or they see me play with them a lot? Because I haven’t come across a single player I’ve played again yet.
He’s saying you use your favorite team, so many your playing are using their favorite teams as well, also they are some of the most popular national teams.
Also what did you expect? your playing a mode with set rosters so everyone is going to look for the best competitive advantage to help win, this is the same with every sports game. Your issue is the exact reason why DD/my team modes are so popular now, nobody wants to play with regular rosters cause you’ll only play the same 5 teams over and over. This complaint/issue has been a thing since sports games first began 20+ years ago, you every play old school maddon with Michael Vick and the falcons? Every game with friends was either falcons vs falcons or falcons colts. Either accept the game mode for what it is or move on and try a new game mode
Nothing of what you said is wrong but that doesn’t make it right either. I don’t play DD because I don’t have the time to grind and build a super team and I’m not paying for stubs just to be competitive so in stuck playing what I’m playing or playing the CPU which I don’t do. I don’t have much problem beating the top teams with an inferior team obviously but it’s annoying so im gonna express that.
Lol you don’t need a super team. All u need is some sds broken bat magic and a few cheap home runs.

I believe MLB The Show does this with pitchers but it only effects the rank of the players you play with. Unfortunately when you get high enough like I am I have to usually wait until the bar goes full to get a matchup. I still don’t really understand how the ranking/leaderboard system works. You got guys like Ewogima who have almost 100 more wins than anyone else yet they are 4th or 5th overall. It’s kind of interesting to see lol

You can’t stop players from choosing there favorite teams my guy… I’m a Dodgers fan but I like to occasionally switch it up and pick different teams I don’t know how players can choose just one team and never try playing with others….

yes, they are not very good why they need to use teams with most diamonds/golds! I only use the Reds so always rewarding beating these teams

I feel like this is every sports game. I notice it in NHL online play too. Everyone uses the Penguins, Capitals or Oilers. To be fair, the Yankees and Dodgers have tremendously large fan bases. Cardinals, Braves and Mets have pretty large fan bases as well, and the Padres are an up and coming, exciting, young team with a player on the cover of the game. That said, there’s definitely a lot of players who feel a bit of a confidence boost from using better teams as opposed to their favorite. I’m a life long Mets and Islanders fan. I have used both teams a good amount of the time, even during the dark years (and there were plenty of them for both). Sometimes I’ll randomize the team and take what I get.
Growing up when I would play with friends on the same system (and even now when I play them online) we used to have the 3 random rule. Both guys would start on an all star team (just to have the same starting point, all star teams were excluded from this), then hit random three times and you would have to choose a team from one of those three. If you weren’t satisfied with the three choices, you were allowed to get a “suicide” pick by hitting random one last time, but whatever team came up is what you were stuck with, no going back to one of the first three. It would be cool if they implemented some sort of system like this into ranked online play. Have a ranked mode just like now where you could be whatever team you want, and then have a random ranked mode where you get no choice of the team you get or some sort of system to narrow down the choices like I just described.
