It baffles my mind that they can’t at least nerf this pitch a tad…at least make it flatten out if you throw it high in the zone. So OP it’s really annoying.
the only thing they need to nerf is the name.. Most guys throw 2 seamers and not sinkers. They also need to figure the velocity out on the pitch as a 93 mph sinker and a 93 mph 4seam are not coming in at the same speed. The sinker is more like 98 for no reason.
-
The weirdest part is instead of actually attempting to do anything... They just gave up, made it a meme, and gave an absurd amount of pitchers a sinker.
Now we are at 102mph sinkers with 99 break 99 control.
I totally agree with the pitch location nerf, or just eliminate the ability to aim it high, the low sinkers look fine, and work how they are suppose too, it’s a primary pitch for some guys that needs to be utilized, it’s just not a secondary pitch for the other 90% of pitchers.

It's been OP since 2019, kind of stupid that they never nerfed it.

100% the pitch is totally normal when it’s thrown low, looks the way it should. When it’s thrown high it originally looks like a breaking ball, and seems to speed up in a crazy way. I consider myself a good hitter but I look totally mismatched sometimes on those high sinkers, even at 93-94 mph. They don’t look right at all, I don’t understand why they can’t make a slight change to it. And honestly, not that many pitchers throw a sinker I’m sorry. They need to do their research.
-
Sinkers have been broken, and the best pitch in the game, at least dating back to 17. MLB the slow pitch softball 18 the splitter was the best pitch but sinkers were #2. At least this year curves and change ups aren't completely useless so the sinker doesn't get spammed every pitch like last year. I just don't think they have the capabilities to fix them since they acknowledged them several times over the years and nothing has changed

I’m on the “Sinkers are OP” train with one major Caveat... go hop on pitcherlist and look at the nastiest pitches from yesterday... Corbin Burnes through a high sinker that tailed down and away (and appeared to defy physics) at ~98... so it is possible... but that is something ONE guy can do... not 50% of SPs.

Is it even 50% in this game though? I feel like more than half of the pitchers have a nasty sinker at this point.

The ball doesn’t come up out of his hand. That’s the whole issue. It’s not about the break on the second half of the pitch, that’s fine. Sinkers do not come out of the hand right. It should be fastball out the hand
-
And just to add one more thing: I think we need more movement with fastballs. So I’m not wanting fastballs to be ineffective.

Or you can learn to hit the pitch!!! Lol
Totally missed the point lol
Nope didn’t miss the point, your just making a complaint that is made every year about the “OP” sinker. They’re not going to fix it just like they didn’t fix it last year or the year before that or the year before that. Instead I would just concentrate on learning to hit the pitch. Btw, I used to be in your camp when it came to the sinker but I made a concerted effort to not allow myself to get beat with it. Now it’s go up there at your own risk. I’ll turn it around if you abuse it.
Pics, video, or it didn't happen, you Sinker Slayer! ️
Didn't they give Mo a Sinker last year?
Sinkers
Dang
Sinkers ️ -
I don't think they should get rid of it or its broken, I just think they need to be less liberal about who has a 99 break sinker. There should just be less people with insane ones that's all

Sinkers ️Yeah, Mariano Rivera. I watched most of his career and he threw one pitch…lmao. One pitch, nothing off speed. He has a sinker and a slider…unreal.

Lol this game is so bad on inside pitches. Half the people were play spam them bc the game has it impossible to get hits on them. Good contact is weak flys and perfect is foul most the time. They need to fix hitting vs inside pitching. Any that spans the same pitches in real life would be smacked around, make it the same on the game

It’s physics are totally shot. It comes out like a breaking pitch and seems to speed up at the last second. It’s not unhittable but it is off and needs to be reworked
Go watch Jordan Hicks throw his sinker. A sinker isn’t really off speed, it can be for sure, but it’s technically a fastball. Jordan Hicks’ sinker does everything you say “defies physics”. It shouldn’t flatten out because it’s like throwing a 2-seam or a cutter just with different spin. It’s not a looping or hanging breaking ball. It’s a moving fastball.

Also, it seems to speed up because a sinker is thrown with the same arm action as a fastball and can have incredible spin rates for guys like Jordan Hicks, Edward Cabrera, Thor, etc. and because of that they will have late breaking action which can make it seem as if it speeds up. Think of a drag car taking off and how the wheels spin before it projected forward. Baseballs do with the air what those tires do with the drag strip.

Read about bauer units. By all accounts Hicks has one of the worst fastballs in the league based on anything aside from velo. The only thing incredible about his spin rate is that it’s so low

No. You’re wrong. It still comes out like a fastball and drops. It never rises out the pitchers hand and then sinks. It sinks off the fastball motion . And in this game if you miss your pitch input it should be flat and not “off” the mark

I agree this pitch is unnatural. But some are saying this has always been OP, but it wasn't. Start of 2020 all pitches did exactly this - at the top of the zone, they flattened out. I was having the time of my life - one game in league, before they added the mercy rule, I beat a friend of mine by 35 runs.
What did that mean for the bottom of the zone? Every pitch was instantly readable, because you could only throw certain pitches on that bottom half without them being a BP flat straight ball.
Gotta remember on All Star anyway, the PCI is way too big for pitches to have any less break than they currently do now. Ever try throwing a 50 break cutter in BR and live to tell the tale?
What happened? People complained and this was their fix. Games were absolute blowouts sometimes. Literally softball scores. BR was basically BP for those of us with good stick skills.
It's an absolutely unnatural movement and a very painful pitch to try to hit - but after seeing it the other way, the only solution would be to move everything PCI related to HOF size or smaller - aka closer to the bat's size, which would make the mode unplayable for a lot more people than the few of us who have mastered high sinker tunnelling.
It was a lesser of two evils for SDS, and it's why it's stuck since. Unfortunately, complaining won't change anything, because the other way got wayyyyy more complaints on this forum than this ever will. At least with this, you can train your mind, look off speed, swing fastballs and with most pitchers it gives you a 1 and 5 chance. The old way gave a 0 in 100 chance that any pitcher's ERA would be under 9 by the end of the season.

Really guy? You're not some master of the sticks, youre not part of a "select few that have mastered tunneling" lol.
You're spamming high sinkers like the rest of us. Simple as that. And just because is works doesn't make you special, it works for all of us, it makes sinkers broken.
