This year I can't tell the difference anymore in the line up screen if I'll be home or away. The laggy buffer is there regardless now it seems.

I agree with this and I'm glad for it

I agree I think this is a good thing, that's why I was surprised to see this thread.

Maybe old gen can still tell the difference. I certainly can’t

I play on PS4 and I can't tell the difference.

Oh, thought you had upgraded. Seems same on both systems then. I can’t tell the difference this year either

I wish I had, but I can't get my hands on a PS5. On top of that I'm moving to the US later this year so it's not really worth it to buy one here now when I do get the chance. I'll just pick one up State side.

Yeah makes sense. Would one be able to mod one to use on the US side? I haven’t looked into it cause it doesn’t apply to me. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t an adapter available for that

I'm sure there would be some way, but it's not very practical to take it with me while traveling. I need the space in my luggage for other stuff. Might as well just get one there at that point, I already have a PS4 there as well so even if I can't get one immediately that would be fine too.

Needed 5 hits with Silver batters and a Safe with a silver pitcher for two Daily Missions; so I decide to try an Events game.

Matched up with someone who came out in an MLB stadium with the time set so the outfield was shaded and had pure black uniforms against a black batter's eye.

Couldn't see the release of the ball until it was right in front of you.

Also tried to spam high inside pitches (which I know isn't cheap) but when you can't see the ball ....

Anyway,I don't even feel bad that the game didn't count because it ended on a Friendly Quit.

    Home hunting is for snowflakes

Dumb take. It’s one thing to use for RS field because you have a team Of fast players..it’s another thing to use it because you pick a time of day you can’t see the ball and hope the other person quits for a free win.

This exactly. Maybe it’s only on PS5 , but I can’t tell anymore.

No. Home Hunting is for people that don't want to play in stadiums with bad lighting, batter eyes that blend in with stupid uniform colors, and people that want the connection to be based off THEIR internet. Then people that pay for good internet don't have to match up with people stealing the WiFi from the BK across the street from the trailer park.

The game isnt based on "THEIR" internet. There's like zero games that connect P2P. You're both connecting through a dedicated server. So if you are having connection issues, it's your internet. Not someone else.

You think MLBTS has dedicated servers? Lol.

Yeah i always thought it was between 2 players internet. If dedicated servers people wouldn't experience lag in MLB stadiums right?

If servers were dedicated, PS4 users would be able to download custom stadiums.

Home team hosts the game. The only time you both are using their servers is when it's match making or sending stats during and after the game.

The PS4 game doesnt have the stadium creator in it..... it's not a port title from PS4/XBOX to PS5/XSX..

Also... I am 10000% correct in my other comment that you said "you are wrong sir" lmao. Like, I couldnt have been more correct....... get over it.

There are two different servers used in every game. One for stats and overlays and the other is for the actual game. I will gladly give you the IP addresses of both for every game I play this morning.......... Then you can apologize and admit how incredibly wrong you were.

Every game online is this game is P2P connection and has been for years. The servers are just for transferring of data(stats, programs, cards, etc.) if there were dedicated servers you would never have had a massive connection advantage as the home team

This thread/forum is hell bent that it's p2p. It's not. Like I've told everyone else I can provide the IPs for the servers if they want. There's two different servers... 1 is for stats, overlays graphics etc and the other is the actual game being played. They are both Amazon dedicated servers.

I saw this random person’s rant on Reddit about P2P. I’m not sure I’d quote him in my master’s thesis, but he might know what he’s talking about. He also mentioned something about bad netcode lag compensation. I wonder if that’s why sometimes the pitches look like they’re 1000 mph.

For the easiest way to understand WHY it's not dedicated servers....

A dedicated server stores the graphics, rendering and pings for players in any given node. Games like COD, ESO, and even fortnite will have a common area where users data is sent providing a ping and location within the parameters of the node. That is why you can play cross play for many titles. There are multiple users in that "instance".

For a game like MLB, it's two users, with the game being hosted on the home team's local console. Data is being sent to and from SDS constantly after the execution of a play. User input for animations are sent to the home team console with outcome results being sent by both machines to SDS Amazon WS servers for DATA STORAGE.

If MLB had dedicated servers, they'd let PS4 players use and play in Custom stadiums. El doofus has no clue what he's chirping about.

Lol.

Ummm yes. As does EVERY SINGLE SPORTS GAME. It's 2021..... oh sorry I didnt parrot talk the squids.. "ThEsE sErVeRs ArE a JoKe SdS sHoUlD bE sUeD"

I can even give you the Amazon IP addresses for the servers if you want. To further prove you wrong.

Every game online is this game is P2P connection and has been for years. The servers are just for transferring of data(stats, programs, cards, etc.) if there were dedicated servers you would never have had a massive connection advantage as the home team

Yeah I was just gonna let the guy think he's smart but you're 100% correct

I enjoy being wrong. Humility is a great characteristic. I mean that with all sincerity.

You learn when you are wrong and have an open mind.

    This circumstance though...meh.

I'm I'm not even in the same area code of being wrong. Probably continent. Most likely, planet or even star cluster of the milky way.

Is that true? Have they changed it? I thought this game always used p2p?

This thread/forum is hell bent that it's p2p. It's not. Like I've told everyone else I can provide the IPs for the servers if they want. There's two different servers... 1 is for stats, overlays graphics etc and the other is the actual game being played. They are both Amazon dedicated servers.

It’s like an IP call; both connect to a server to determine protocols and once connection is established they are P2P.

You think MLBTS has dedicated servers? Lol.

Yeah i always thought it was between 2 players internet. If dedicated servers people wouldn't experience lag in MLB stadiums right?

It has been p2p in like half a decade where have you people been? It's 1000000% dedicated servers. These loser kids just cant accept that their trash bogged down "fiber" Xfinity internet isn't as good as they think.

One can think of a dedicated server as a midway connection between different gamers. This gateway solves some connection and stability issues. The only connection a gamer has to worry about is his or her own. In P2P gaming, if one of the connections is slow, all of the players' connections will suffer.

There you go. You stated that if someone's connection is bad, it affects both players.
