Which one is better? Is it possible to use analog and be competitive or is zone hitting a must? New player here just curious and also wondering why if not...thank you

That’s not what I mean though, pure analog or zone hitting, which is better and why?

My first year and a half playing online, I used pure analog. It's ok, but the computer is deciding your PCI placement for you. It really helped me learn to see different types of pitches, and work on timing.

However, in order to really get the best experience and results based on your input, you should really use zone. I should have made the switch sooner!

Zone easily. You have way more input of your hitting.

Yeah I can’t stand when you have a perfect swing and miss the ball with analog...

Go into practice and use zone analog stride. A little tough at first but worth it.

I tip my CAP to people who use this. I dont have the coordination for that. Kudos

I used analog several years ago before switching to zone...Analog is fine on All-Star difficulty & lower but once you hit HOF it’s really hard to consistently hit because the timing window is much smaller. You’re better off sticking with zone, Once you get used to it you’ll be glad you did. Good luck either way.

Thanks man that’s what I’m wondering, if I can’t compete as good as everyone else at the top with analog then I’m not gonna use it

So is the vision stat basically meaningless if you are using zone hitting?

I chase the ball out of the box and swing like an idiot when I use zone. I have so much focus on getting the PCI on the ball that I lose focus on timing and letting balls go.
I don't like directional at all.
With PA I just wait on good pitches and hope my player is better at putting the PCI on target than I am. Surprisingly I'm doing better with PA than anything else.

Yeah I feel the same, when I use zone I just lose all sense of the strike zone and swing at the dumbest pitches like you said because I’m so focused on getting the pci placed....so what stat determines how good a player gets the pci on the ball with analog hitting? Is it vision or contact?

No, It’s not meaningless. The vision determines the size of the center of your pci. The contact rating determines the size of the outer part of the pci.

Oh wow really....ahhh that’s exactly the info I was trying to get thanks a lot bro appreciate that. So vision is the inside and most important part?

Yes & no...The center of the pci or the “vision” is where you want the ball to be for hitting homers or perfect/perfect hits but when I get 2 strikes on me I contact swing & that encompasses the outside of the pci which makes it much more likely that you’ll put the ball in play.

Just stick with it, that will get better with time, promise. I used to use PA, switching to zone has been a life saver. Fight through the early frustrations, you'll end up being much better very quickly. And, it's a lot more fun to use.

At first, pick an area that the pitcher seems to go to often, swing if it's there, otherwise hold off until two strikes. Eventually, you'll find the place you like to start the PCI, and you'll get better at moving it to pitches as you expand YOUR zone. You got this.
