Hi Collin, I didn’t buy the game this year for the first time in 5 years. As a previously loyal customer who loved DD and would play thousands of games, invest hundreds of hours and of course, hundreds of dollars into the game each year, I was so disenchanted with the online gameplay, terrible content and recurring issues every year, I walked away from the game I loved and devoted the majority of my free time to.

I just came to say that nothing I’ve seen from SDS or the game this year has made me regret my decision so far.

I know SDS hosts MLB The Show using Amazon Web Services (AWS). My understanding is that SDS has to pay AWS for services based on expected capacity (for both database and server usage). They must be continually trying to recalibrate to purchase enough capacity to meet the load, but not buy too much capacity (and end up losing money).

I'm also guessing they seriously underestimated the amount of load that all of the XB users are adding (from last year's baseline), especially considering the presence of MLBTS within Game Pass.

When there's one response for every week the servers [censored] out, all that's left is speculation. I'd suggest your entire communication team come up with something better than "we're working on fixing the same problem that's plagued releases for 5 years."

If your theory is correct, then whoever makes that decision should be fired. They undercalculate by far every year.

Be careful. They don’t like it when you speculate.

Can somebody give an example of something they could say to help fix the server issues at night? Hmm the answer would be nothing. So why do people care so much for them to specificallysay whats going on. What else can they say other than we know theres been some problems and were working on it. I only understand if u played late at night but to the overwhelming majority whos been been to play the game i just think yall are crazy to complain for what inconveniences you an not the overwhelming majority of people.

I get it on hand cause yea im not gonna say i wouldn't be frustrated if my 11pm time every night i couldnt play but i wouldnt come on here an say the game is broken just because my time is not the best

Reading the [censored] you type is more painful than a server error

Please explain with your infinite wisdom an knowledge how so many people have finished all the grind this month already when you claim the game doesnt work at all and you cant play?????

    1. XP glitch brought on by linking accounts.

    2. People that have the time to play during off hours with double XP.

    3. People using roster hacks and quick playing vs the CPU to farm XP

ALL of those categories fall into the vast minority of the player base.

Lol. This comment by Colin is really right up there with the EA “pride and accomplishment” post.

    Unbelievably tone deaf.

Very disheartening. Really shows just how far apart the player base and sds are. I dont see any of these problems being fixed soon. They added a [censored] ticker now to count down towards the routine maintenance. That's not somthing you do if you plan on resolving the issues in a few days.

The game was already late released, we are almost done with the first program, yet still every morning and evening the game is unplayable. I really feel like they have just accepted that this is how it's going to be for awhile and we as customers will adapt.

I uninstalled the game. Held onto the power button on the PS4 until it beeped twice. It gave me the option to rebuild the library/database
    I clicked on that.
Then I reinstalled the game. I noticed I'm having less issues.

Glad that would make you feel better. In no way shape or form, will that help with any of the issues SDS is having.

It'll improve the read/write speed if your PS4, like defragmenting a hard drive on a PC.

I assume you're talking to someone else and not me? I didn't say anything about "me feeling better"

sorry Collin but you guys have said the same thing with every issue for years. People are kind of tired of the canned responses that you guys pass off as communication. Cant blame people for speculating if you provide 0 information.

    This times a billion!!!!!!

Wow this comment is somehow both hysterical and infuriating at the same time. Self awareness is at the same level as Wilson Ramos’ speed Collin. Big time woof man

But can't communicate, which tells me 1 of 2 things, either your full of [censored], because you dont know whats going on, or 2 SDS doesnt care what the gaming community thinks. So they say nothing.

Bingo... if they're indeed using AWS, they've vastly underestimated load and are stepping capacity slowly in order to optimize need vs overcapacity(cost). That said, there's likely a software component to this also that's magnified by the increased user base. This is the piece that's potentially problematic based on where and how the software inefficiency is manifested. If it were solely server load/volume, we'd be beyond the problems by now.

There's an A&E series on Netflix called "Halt and Catch Fire". There's a few episodes that show you what the AWS issue could be. Think Mutiny and when they moved their services to the IBM mainframe during the offline hours that Lee Pace set up.

Even if their AWS footprint was big enough, they'd have to upscale the connectivity to anything at their home location where they manage some of their services.

If they were expanding their footprint, they will have coding issues that will arise during the adding of that footprint. Traffic management snafu.

The reason people are speculating is due to zero communication

Is SDS going to adjust XP at all to compensate for all the losses of xp?

Honestly this is such an arrogant and condescending response.

you are absolutely right - they are cocky with a product that is overwhelmingly fraught with tons of issues - poor look on them but we all know that already
