Ohtani as Position Player- Custom League

In a custom league with the Angels and Ohtani only shows in the SP rotation. In the roster setting, can't seem to get him as a sub for DH or any OF position...simply not showing as an option. Is this just a flaw in the game design or am I missing something?

Have you tried putting your worst player as DH to begin the game then when it comes time for the DH to come up to bat sub in Ohtani? This used to work but haven't tried it this year.

Yeah, that does work. Just seems like there should be a way pre-game to do it.

No doubt about it. They should open it up and allow us to make whatever lineup we want. If I was to place Syndergaard at short I should be able to.

Does this even work in custom leagues?
It only lets me pinch hit relief pitcher.
