Whenever I want to make sure I don’t swing I don’t hit the button.

Also this is just proof that it wasn’t visually appealing. For all we know you mashed the hell out of that button trying to swing and got a check swing animation. It is pretty random when you get check swings or not but so much of those game is random it’s not really comp. when you perfect perfect for an out one AB and then next AB smash a 500 ft homerun with a very early swing it’s best to just be casual about it as hard as that is.

What I’ve come to learn over the years because it’s always the case, is that you can’t trust the feedback and the animations. You might see something on your screen and the opponent sees something entirely different and it gets called whatever the true input was. It sucks but this isn’t new

Umpires don’t make 100% correct calls even though you may set it to be 100% accurate. I remember a few years ago when we could challenge the umpire calls. Was a big thing at first base. They were wrong a lot. If they wanted to simulate actual 2020-2021 umpire calls IRL into this game, they would be wrong constantly. I think over 40% of calls that are challenged are overturned after video. Ball and strike calls have become comical every game. In the 90’s umpires expanded the zones for proven pitchers. This season they are shrinking and expanding the zone with every batter. Crazy bad. Don’t even get me started on calls like in the Brewers/Marlins game yesterday at first base. Umps are terrible, even ones that used to be good.

After much testing offline, I've come to the conclusion that being able to check swing has to do more with the location of the ball relative to home plate than it has to do with your input. It's like if the pitcher just released the ball you can get the guys shoulder to flinch. If the ball is basically at the plate you go around every time. Somewhere in the middle there seems to be a gray area where you may or may not be able to check up.

Edit: i think it needs to be a little bit easier to check offline. Not much, but a little bit.

Maybe this adds nothing to the post, but while grinding an AL East Affinity Conquest map games, 1st inning boss Mike Piazza had 4 successful check swings. I couldn't believe it. Nobody else but him. Must be his stance. Weird.
