Covering 2nd base during steal attempt?

My 2nd baseman can’t cover the bag during a steal attempt. He’ll run half way towards 2nd base then stop to catch the throw from the catcher. Is anyone else having this issue?

You have to constantly hold the stick toward the bag before the pitch. It has been a thing every year for as far back as I remember. It doesn't make much sense why the SS isn't covering, but it's a thing. One reason why I don't play 2nd.

Just need to be ultra aware when someone is on first. As soon as the pitch starts if you hear "runner, runner" or see the blue path under your feet, you have to get over to the base fast. I started on 2cd base but switched to SS, it's the same with that position too.
