Pitching in online

It’s terrible. Literally no point in a user input for pitching accuracy
-
I'm not starting a diamond pitcher until this gets sorted out. No reason to inflate my ERA's onwards I plan to use for the long haul.
-
every year user input for pitching seems to get worse, but everyone cried and complained about hitting last year so SDS decided the best way to shut them up was to make pitching irrelevant, which is fine, not like pitching is a big part of the sport.

You can't expect every pitch to go exactly where you want it. Especially if you don't have a perfect release or a high control pitcher. I like the change. People can't live on the black and sometimes mistakes happen when you try.
Adjust, improve, or get smashed.
-
I agree mostly pezdemic but it’s hard to improve when you get good/perfect releases all the time and pitches go down the pipe or way out of the zone
-
this game always suck always an issue is really dissapointing its the only baseball game out there thats realistic and yet they still cant get the [censored] right
Atleast Last Year You can pitch and mantain the game at a level with a chance to win now u cant even pitch and everyone just waits for the pitcher to let one go down the pipe even that the pitch is suppose to be over the head ridiculous

thats the problem, perfect releases with high control pitchers are still randomized, one ends up where its supposed to, the next one ends up hanging dead centre even though it was supposed to be in on the hands or below the zone or outside, take your pick, the next perfect release ends up in the opposing dugout. No one is asking for every perfect release to be pin point or paint every time but if user input means so much, when I get a perfect release on a pitch it should end up in the general vicinity of where it was spotted, it was bad last year but this year its absolute roulette.
-
I'm torn on the pitching. I think two simple things they could do is increase velocity and the size of the strike zone. MLB pitchers tend to get an inch or two off the black on the outside corner.
Also contact should be reduced on poorly timed swings out of the strike zone. But I like the challenge of pitching right now.Keep in mind that few people are high enough to be playing on the higher difficulties in RS so the game might play better up there

The pitching doesn’t seem bad to me. Your not going to hit your spots just bc you have good input. Very few players in real life have pin point accuracy and even they miss frequently. As far as the strike zone goes, it’s going to be even tighter when the computer umps start calling balls and strikes.

Except you are using real life baseball logic and this is a video game where top players can mash anything that isn't a dot on the outside parts of the strike zone. There has to be a better way to locate pitches accurately or else why do we even have pitchers? Let's just make DD a softball game and home run derby each game.

Accuracy and pitch speeds need an increase and power a decreas.

Get rid of zone hitting, been saying it for years.

You shouldn't hang a pitch just because the computer wants you to. User input should be a huge factor in all aspects of the game. If I hit my spots, then yes the ball should go where I put it. However, with a pitcher such as Nolan Ryan it should be drastically harder to hit both spots (faster moving, smaller marks for instance) than it should be for a Greg Maddux. This is how you reward good input. If you can hit both marks with Nolan Ryan, you should benefit from that but you should need to be highly skilled to do that. Hitting and fielding should be the same. Much harder to square up a ball with Gallo as opposed to Gwynn. Really not a hard concept.

Why would they get rid of the only input based hitting mechanic in the game? That’s insane. I’m not playing a game where all the outcomes are completely randomized and all based on if the CPU wants to let me get a hit or not. Bad take.

That’s not realistic though. If it was how you want it then theoretically you could hit your spots every time with any pitcher if your good enough at timing a meter. I want a realistic baseball game, not a meter timing game.

Swing at pitches the player you are controlling is good at hitting.

I’m playing a video game though I want to be in control of where they’re swinging... I don’t just want to mindlessly hit one button when the ball is close to the strike zone and pray to god the cpu decides this is the one that I finally barrel up. Why wouldn’t you want to control where your players are going to swing the bat? You know just like in real baseball, players have to decide where the pitch is going and put the barrel of the bat on the ball. PCI is our barrel.

Because I’m not hitting the ball, the player I am controlling is. The game is representing the mlb players, not you or me.
-
It still represents the player with their stats on their cards... you are simply controlling where they are swinging. It’s a video game there would be no skill gap or no reason to play this game in a competitive manner you might as well just sim games the way you are explaining this.
