As of right now you CANNOT earn all cards just by playing.... most likely in the future they will re-release packs in conquest/events/showdown and give you a chance to get the packs that you have to buy with stubs right now, I assume that before next years game comes out you will be able to earn all the cards without spending stubs and buying packs, but right now you can only get a fraction of the cards available just by playing
Sure you can. Every game you play earns you stubs. Every little moment you do earns stubs. There are stubs in showdown, there are stubs hidden on conquest maps, there are stubs for completing certain missions.
Then, if there is a card you want, you can go to the market and use those stubs. You can call it stubs, points, XP, whatever you want. You earn things from playing the game, you exchange those things for any card you want.
The better the card, the more you need to play first. This is no different than any other video game since the launch of Nintendo.

I could be wrong but I thought I heard on the pre launch stream that every card in the game would obtainable by just playing the game. Of course you could spend money to get them faster but I was under the impression I could get all cards by grinding the game.
To be honest, I am sure that they consider earning stubs by playing the game so that you can buy cards on the market as grinding.

I think what the OP is meaning is, what has been said since 2-3 years ago, in the years before you could play the game say vs. cpu and you'd be able to obtain any card. 2-3 years ago they changed it. Now sds has forced you to play online to complete things in order to receive xp or whatever that goes towards a certain mission or card.. It's frustrating. There are tons and tons of people who just play the game and collect and want nothing to do with online. Grinding in different aspects is used losely when it comes to this.. Flipping cards has always been there but in the last few years its gotten worse due to this, people want a certain card to just play with and have fun but now have to flip for days to get said card instead of winning 25 games in an event..
This is inherently false this year considering you can earn every thing offline including parellelling players. It will take you forever to do it this way because the better rewards will always and always should be for online modes considering that is what drives the profit. It is also the reason why we have those cards in the first place.

Uh yeah online mode drives the profit. What do you think sales the stubs? if there were no diamond dynasty then there would be no reason for the legends.

I thought he was referring to P2P vs CPU. I know of strictly vs CPU people that put lots of money into DD to have the best cards, just like the P2P players.

Correct. There are a ton of people that play offline vs. cpu and spend lots of money on stubs to have the best cards. There is a big portion of people who like to "collect" as in the cards, like they do in real life, who want the cards in game and spend money, even if they are strictly offline. It's another part of the game. There is way more than just online that drives the profit.....

I don't spend money, but I am one of the ones that mainly play offline (conquest etc.) and I like to collect the cards and try to get the best overall team even though I don't play much online.
