Base runners disappearing in showdown

Is it a thing if you strike out enough they punish you by removing base runners? After 3rd or 4th K in a row I hit a walk off single only for my guy who was on 3rd to be gone. What the....?

Yup I lost a showdown last night because of this. Had 2 outs left and man on 1st and third. Hit a grounder that got runner out at second but I was safe at first. I look at the scoreboard and I’m still losing. The runner on third disappeared. Did not count as a run

It happens when that runner is due to bat.

Hmm that definitely makes sense if that is the case.

Last year they swapped in a runner for them. This year I guess they penalize us for not getting them in by the time 8 other hitters come to the plate.
