This is what I was referring to regarding the difference in stadium lighting this year compared to last year.

I think for many of the known stadiums the lighting got better for night games compared to last year where certain stadiums like Citi Field, Yankee and Reds stadium looked eerily dark especially in the outfield. But that still isn't an excuse. You have pictures all over the internet...I mean you have exclusive rights with Major League Baseball to render their ballparks. You mean to tell me developers can't even look at night games on TV and transfer that knowledge over to a video game? Is rendering lighting in a game that difficult? I understand maybe trying to make the background dark to probably make the players on the field graphically pop but the graphics will do so anyway for night games if you used real life lighting. It just simple things such as lighting that make you wonder. There is no mentioning of classic stadiums like Ebbets Field, Tiger Stadium, Municipal, Three River Stadium. Create a Stadium is a bummer, even if they took three years to develop. I just don't think there is no care really for the visuals but only DD, Franchise and RTTS. We get new accessories but those should be a given and added years ago.

I say what the heck I want to say. And no it's not "incredible." But because you're an Xbox gamer everything looks great cuz you got an actual game. If you look at the lighting for different stadiums in MLB the Show it's nothing remotely like the actual games. But this is supposed to be simulation right? What can be more difficult than looking at stock photos or any live games and applying it to a video game? You know how many years people were complaining about only that? Like C'mon, at least make it look like there's a conservative effort.

I'm playing on the ps5 ,on my 4k sony, and there's a problem with 'crushed blacks' with the hdr.
I have hdr set to auto on my tv and don't have this problem with other ps5 games.🤔

Its not the hdr. The skylines are completely dark during night games and Half of the lights are out in a lot of stadiums. Go play a night game in Minnesota go look at the skyline and stadium lights in Washington during a night game. The lighting is broken. The beautiful lighting inside of dome stadium’s during afternoon games is gone.

Player skin textures are also really flat. I don’t know if that’s due to the lighting. But they looked better in 20.

Sadly the developers really needed to add hdr configurations menu options for next gen.. every tv handles hdr differently based on nits level and no excuse for us not being able to tweak the paperwhite settings.. those of u with a newer lg oled Ala the lg cx will notice the screen slowly dims when batting due to the dynamic tone mapping set to on.. its perfect at 1st with the behind batter view but will darken as it tone maps the brightness level. I wish they would give us more options in game for hdr bc its way to dark with dtm off or using hgig..True next gen should at least allow hdr configurations in game..

That’s basically what’s happening on my Nanocell, it dims after the first few seconds

Appreciate the help Skipple. Just checked and HDR is off for me. The stadium lighting might just be an issue with this game on next gen versions then. I checked out the show 20 night games and it looks fine. I reported a bug on it, so hopefully it gets looked at soon.

Playing on a PS5 with a Samsung Q90T and I don't have major issue with it. I have calibrated the t.v. with variation of RTINGS.com and Vincent from youtube. If anyone hasn't looked up their model and calibrated yet it is worth it.

The problem is the Console has to match the t.v. and sometimes the t.v. with auto doesn't pick correctly. If you change the hdmi darkness level and the picture doesn't change/flicker it matches. If it changes then it wasn't matching. Returnal and Miles Morales use full RGB most games use limited so in theory auto if available on the t.v. should be the correct settings but it isn't always going to work correctly.

Also Samsungs dynamic lightning screws up with the PS5 HDR calibration so I was having issues with the HDR always being way to bright on every game. If you use the PS5 way of calibration it will be wayyyy over the nit level. If you google Vincent on youtube about HDR calibration he has a highly recommended video on Xbox and PS5 settings with nit levels.

I agree. Especially in the bleachers and upper deck in many of the ballparks there’s almost no lighting. I’m playing on PS5 in 4K HDR. It’s been like this for years and this year it only seems worse. How do the fans in the bleachers even see their hot dogs??

What's so funny is it has nothing to with HDR or the processed rendering of a game. It's SIMPLY not paying or giving the slightest bit of attention or care to something that is seen every two games of series for over 50 years: NIGHT GAMES. The proper lighting should be fixed, signed, sealed and delivered if not in an updated patch or by the start of the next game. How do you make the stands that dark and call it simulation is beyond me. Are there any Twins fans playing as the Twins on the Show see the night games at Target Field? Bro.. it's completely pitch black...like seriously. It's one thing to say you're complaining about lighting and it's another to see that. As Twins fans how do you take that seriously especially for game players who slave over Franchise Mode and treat their franchise team like the real thing?

It can't be dimming the bleachers light to make it easier for the batters to see because there are some stadiums where the seats are brightly lit like bleachers behind the LF wall at Camden Yards.

This is what got me...the bleachers in LF are well lit like the real Camden but if you look at Petco in San Diego where the seats in LF are similar to that of Camden... it's dark. Now Petco Park, compared to what it is was for years, is the place to be. Why? Because of the most electrifying guy in the game today...MLB The Show's COVER ATHLETE FTJ. How is it that Camden is almost on point but the stadium that is hot in the ratings right now where your cover athlete plays looks so dark. Go look at Minute Maid it's ridiculously dark for night games--and this is a team that made it to two WS.
