Thanks for the reply! Seems like that breaks it down. Recently in Madden they added team affinity and it was rewarding to build an entire team around one (or two) squads (i.e. an entire squad of Packers or Chiefs players). Is Diamond Dynasty similar (Favorite team is Boston - so build with a bunch of Red Sox)? Or is it better to have guys from all teams?
Not sure if someone answered this one yet...but for competitive purposes, its generally better to have a mix. Some streamers will do theme teams later in the year for variety but you're best teams are likely to have players from any number of different teams.
Not to say you can't do an all BOS squad. Just that you might find better options than a Hernandez in CF or whatever BOS has as a rotation/bullpen. Keep in mind a card with juiced attributes doesn't automatically mean success either. Swing animations, pitch types and user skill matter and sometimes cards just seem to play above or below their numbers. Find what works for you.
I've been that guy who plays ranked with a bunch of LS golds and a preorder diamond against a day 1 all-diamond team and forced them to quit. I've also been that guy with the diamonds who loses the the lesser team on paper.
Half the fun is finding and using cards you like and not worrying about which ones the best imo.

This right here is what i find to be the biggest misconception among DD and it effects the market as well.
This poster is 100% accurate in this post. And you will find proof all over these forums with threads like "Who was your best player in 20" or "What was the best finest card?" SDS does a great job providing diversity in cards which in turn makes the teams diversified.
He hit the nail on the head when he talked about using the card that fits your style. Everyone wanted Mickey Mantle but if you notice alot of people didn't like him after they got him. And that rings true with every player at every position.
Great post!

I find flipping on the market to be deadly boring and not fun. If I wanted a stock market or investment simulator I would buy one.
That being said, it is a perfectly valid way to make stubs if you find flipping cards enjoyable.
I have the time to flip while at work on from my phone but when I am home I do not flip cards much, It is a great way to make stubs if you have the time and Patience

Far as teams for Rank Season online you want the best team or the Cards you figure out that you are good with. I use CQ (Conquest) to knock out offline missions and TA. Complete moments will get you some decent free Cards, packs and or Stubs. Not everyone likes moments

Oh man your gonna love it and get hooked. Madden can’t touch the show. [censored] even 2k lil better than MUT
-
IMO never waste stubs on packs unless you REALLY want too. Packs are awful. I think that you would be better off buying the cards you want. Also grind the free cards and SAVE SAVE SAVE your stubs.

Seems similar to MUT in that sense... i avoid packs at all times over there. What is considered “a lot of stubs”? Thousands? Millions? As i became more experienced in MUT, was able to save upwards of 5-6 million coins. Is stubs the same way?

LY they capped you at 5M stubs. Not sure if the ceiling will be the same or not but easy ways around that “cap” though too. Stubs were easy and plentiful towards the end of last year.
-
I would say a lot is like a Million or half a million but 100k up is enough to buy a lot of cards. It pretty much depends on who you compare your stub count to or how much stubs you want or need.

I agree. Although first few days I rip packs for fun. Just a thing I’ve always done.

That would be achievable is this but not really needed. Cards maxed out at a price in this game and normally never even come close to max
You seem to already kinda have a grasp on it, the first week or so do yourself a favour and play with as many of the free cards you can. It’ll probably take a week to earn them anyways, by then you’ll probably fully understand almost everything and you won’t make a dumb mistake like myself.
The first year I played from release I got a Diamond Yoenis Cespedes in the packs I bought. He was worth like 40k. Comepleting the Mets entire collection earned a insane David Wright card. Along the way you earn stubs and XP at 10 Mets, 20 Mets and so on. I assumed I’d finish the collection and looked in my Yoenis Cespedes along with 9 other Mets. About a week later I had a better outfield for free then Cespedes, who never played again, I never even finished the collection. I got a Jose Bautista card at third instead of David Wright. Cespedes never played, the stubs got wasted and I could have just used a 50 stub common instead of a 40,000 stub Diamond.
It’s really easy to get excited and waste stubs so just be patient.
