Just heard the FSMW commentator talking about Syndergaard’s injury and upcoming return to the Mets.
Direct quote:
‘but they do have de Grom, he’s pretty good’
amongst listing off the other pitchers in the Mets rotation and bullpen,
and no he wasn’t being tongue in cheek. I got the impression it was a genuine ‘oh yeah I guess he’ll do since Syndergaard and Carrasco are out for a month or so’ moment.
One of the many reasons that every time I see my only option for watching a Mets game on MLB.TV is Fox Sports, I die a little inside.

Does it have the Gary, Keith and Ron broadcasts for the Mets (PIX11 and SNY)? If not, talk to the hand

Without a doubt the Mets broadcast is one of the best in baseball, but I like Danny Mac and Jim Edmonds on FSMW, they are pretty good imo.
I have a feeling Edmonds said it, and I bet 100% it was tongue in cheek, they both know their baseball and they both know how good Degrom is.

If it was Dan Mclaughlin and/or Jim Edmonds then it was absolutely tongue in cheek whether you want to believe that or not.
It is always different listening to a broadcast team that you are not familiar with and too easy to criticize them too quickly without knowing their style.

And @Dolenz_PSN
Fair enough I’ll concede based on your feedback, but I stand by my distaste for Fox Sports.

That's cool. Never said that you had to like them, just that those two announcers, if they are the ones who made the comment, definitely said it tongue in cheek. Dan has been the play by play man for like 20 years and Jim Edmonds is, well, Jim Edmonds.

Probably. You can select which teams broadcast you watch.

Just as an FYI:
On the opening game pre-show for the Cardinals Jim Edmonds was discussing the team and said of Molina - You got a guy behind the plate, he's pretty good.
So it definitely seems like Edmonds way of kind of sarcastically saying that the player is very good.

Yeah now I definitely think if I watched them more I would have interpreted it the way it was intended. To his credit, it was so deadpan serious when he was talking about de Grom that he totally fooled me.
I still hate Fox
It all started when they tried to make a soap opera out of the Clemens Piazza thing back in 2000. -
