No Franchise Mode Changes?

The fact that this video makes no reference to Franchise/Online Franchise is incredibly disheartening.
Can't wait to hear the excuse for MLB TS 21.

I hate to say it but I wasn't expecting too much with covid and going multiplatform. I think people have amazingly high expectations for a company that rarely innovates

And that’s just it...there is always an excuse. I just want them to say “it’s not happening. There’s no profitable return...we are focused on DD...it eats up servers...” something that is honest and straight forward. If they can create leagues for DD, they can make an online franchise mode. But their focus has been to wedge players toward DD. It would be nice if there was an outcry like we had when EA gave up on franchise mode.

I get there is always an excuse but this year is very different than in the past. In a year to year cycle they've had to deal with covid and all thw challenges that it brings but also having to make the game work for Xbox is a massive undertaking. I have no idea if thwy added people to the team, I would assume some that are for Xbox but they don't have a big team to start with. I get the frustration but I think this is the year it's the most acceptable although in the past, I agree it hasn't been.

I appreciate your point-of-view and I do not agree with it.
Each year, since the removal of Online Franchise, SDS has come-up with an excuse as to why the game mode is not present within the game. Meanwhile DD sees more and more advancement, RttS sees improvements and they even went ahead and created a new game mode: March to October. So they had time to improve game modes and develop another that no one asked for, while ignoring a game mode that fans have been screaming to see changes and additions to. They're not listening; they're looking for $ signs.
Last year the development team added leagues to Diamond Dynasty, but completely ignored franchise mode. The addition of online leagues to Diamond Dynasty tells you that the capability to add online franchise is there and that it is not a priority for the SDS -- most likely because it does not generate revenue post-purchase.
At this point-in-time the lack of improvements to franchise mode is inexcusable. If they come-out tomorrow or at some-point prior to launch and announce that Online Franchise will be apart of the game, than I'll have no problem stating mea culpa. I am not going to hold my breath. I await another crummy excuse.

RTTS got minimal upgrades to the mode, for the most part its the same mode that they have had in the past other than the progression system that was worked on by a set amount of developers in the most or was if not still the most used mode in the game. Diamond dynasty got a very basic thrown together league mode that is extremely far from online franchise. Again, this was made by a set amount of people that were to make the mode work.
They said in a stream that Online franchise was a small portion of players that used it so they made a mode that they felt brought in more people to the game. Whether you like the mode or not, I would be willing to bet that mode was used more than online franchise was and wasn't a problem for servers like they claimed that online franchise was.
Again, covid and going to new systems and cross platform, there is a lot more work this year than ever before. I'm not defending SDS at all, im just saying that this particular year, I dont see people having high expectations and having SDS meeting them with everything going on in the world and the added stuff they have for Xbox coming in.
In the past version and future version, I dont think it's the same but I do this year. The game will be slightly different than last year and I'd be shocked if there is much new and not just tweaked

Ok my 2 cents here and i'm not taking sides one way or the other. Technology has come a long way and while covid is a bad thing i personally think it effected small business more than Corporate. I say this b/c i know they can use VPN's and work from home without office distractions. So if game hasn't progressed i blame the bean counters not developers.
As far as posting that whole video we had to watch and the comment that followed link, not sure what OP was trying to get across. Upset b/c nothing was mentioned about online franchise? Could be several reasons for that, they have never released all info about game before developer streams so no surprise there for me.
With all due respect this reads as a speculation post to me. I watched video and saw nothing to indicate if there was or wasn't online franchise this year. What i got out of it most was basically play the game however you want. Which could mean anything at this point until streams say otherwise.

Love it or hate it the fact of the matter is that
- Franchise is played by a fraction of the players that play DD or RTTS.
- There is very little opportunity for them to monetize it.
I would not expect them to address any possible changes in yesterdays video. These are essentially marketing videos so they focused on their biggest audience, which are not franchise players.
If there is any light at the end of the tunnel, it is that there is a stream dedicated to Franchise and March to October. Maybe that will be disappointing and they really only change March o October but, if I remember correctly, Franchise was not even part of the streaming schedule last year so maybe there is a little hope.
