I don't like that the only way to be good at this game is to go buy a nice computer monitor. Is there anyway to make normal tvs better?

Yeah, you can turn your tv settings to “gaming mode” if it’s a relatively newer tv.

From what I’ve read newer TVs are designed to have a decent gaming performance. Not the same as a monitor but it helps, turn gaming mode on and try your best

I've played people "So they say" that they were playing br and went 12-0 on a Tv I was the 12-0 but yeah I hate it as well. It's not just this game it's basically all online multiplayer games and even when in game mode in my experience is still no comparison. I didn't want too but bit the bullet and just done it because (Losing when you know the opp is way worse) Not this game only but it was Rainbow Six Siege is annoying. Now though that game is ruined with M&K and basically all are going the same like PC for cheating. So you should just get a big monitor with low input lag if you can afford it as it's like entry level now unfortunately.

The size of the TV/monitor doesn't really matter, what matters is the input lag. People play on monitors because they're known to have fast response times with low input lag, effectively giving you more time to react.

That being said, there are TV's (large ones too) who can compete with monitors in this regard. My Samsung KS8000 55" is only just a tad slower than my BENQ monitor but I barely notice it; I made WS and went flawless in BR on both my monitor and my TV.

The TVs who can compete in this regard do have a bit of a price tag. Like the LG OLED series, they bring the best of both worlds but carry a hefty price tag. What you always wanna do though is put your TV in game mode and lock the resolution at 1080p if you can.
