Ok, I’m a 41 year old disabled veteran with severe anxiety and playing this game is a good way to keep my mind off things. The problem is I can’t hit to save my life. I probably average 18 strikeouts a game. If I get more than 2-3 hits a game it’s a “good” game. I also have trouble seeing the ball and am extremely late on FBs and extremely early on off-speed pitches. Here are my settings.....please help with recommendations for changes and simple strategy for batting. Thank you
Hitting view: Strike Zone 2 Hitting Interface: Zone PCI: Off (PCI was making it even harder to see ball, but maybe there’s adjustments to be made for its settings?)

For certain, u need that PCI. I would recommend strike zone, not strike zone 2
You just have to find settings that you’re comfortable with. You can go into practice mode and play on higher difficulties so when you go online it seems easier. You can try different settings and see which ones you do the best on. I also find practice mode to be pretty relaxing because there’s no stress to beat anybody and it’s an empty stadium. Hope that helps!
Also, when in practice mode, just take a few minutes where you don’t even swing, just track the PCI to the ball and when you start to feel comfortable with that, treat it like a regular game and wait for a pitch in the zone you like it in. The biggest piece of advice for hitting I can give is that even if the pitch is a strike, it doesn’t mean you should always swing. Try to wait for that pitch in your happy zone and tee off!
Also make sure to have the game in performance mode, not graphics mode

How do I check that?
It’s under settings, I think it’s display option and you change it to faster
I have benefited a lot from Cbrev’s videos and hitting tips. Fwiw.
Try to watch CBrev on youtube, he has some videos with hitting tips, he covers approach, strategy and settings. He also has a series called What would brev do, you can benefit a lot from watching him.
First and most important thing is your tv settings. If your tv doesn’t have a game mode, any input lag is going to destroy you....you may as well not even play

It does. It could just be old eyes too. But I won’t stop playing.
I think for us older dudes, a good, selective approach is even more important.
I will never be one of those guys that can get the pci on everything. But with practice, I am getting the pci on pitches I am looking for...
Try showdowns. It really helped me with being selective at the plate.
Heya. I am also a disabled veteran who finds it relaxing, almost meditative, to play various PS4 games. I have some advice that I hope will help you.
Important note: use the same camera for both hitting and pitching. Doing so will train your eyes to recognize pitches even while you're not focusing on hitting them.
Last thing... feel free to hit me up for a casual game. I'm quite happy to play a game or two during which only fastballs - in the zone - are thrown, except with two strikes. Good practice for making solid contact.
Good luck!
Thank you for your service.
I have the same issue. Sometimes it depends on who you're playing (online or just against the computer). I've Google hitting tips. Biggest thing I can recommend is patience and practice. Watch pitches, study the opponents when playing online to see what their pitch tendency is. And again. Practice.
Probably not the most popular opinion here, but I switched to directional. I'm 40 years old myself and an ex D1 baseball player and prefer timing it up and letting the chips fall where they may.
I dont play online much and mostly just do DD offline via the CPU but it made the game much more appealing to me.
I never knew about this option, wow! Is it by default set on graphics mode?

I have an old ps4 as well but from the post I was under the impression that it's a setting within the game?
