I totally agree...I actually teared up the moment I saw the X-Wing. I just knew at that moment what would follow & I was SO HAPPY.
My eyes were more than a little moist at the end. I 100% did not see that coming.

My dad actually called it a few episodes back. lol
I have no idea how. -

Love it, one of my favourite parts of the series is jason sudekis in the season 1 finale
I think it’s fine to have little cameos like that, but I don’t think that’s really a highlight of the show/series. There are easily 50 moments that are actually great for the series and SW universe.
The bike troopers firing and missing that can from like 3 feet away and then missing IG from point blank? Sorry man for enjoying a funny moment in the series.
Good lord this is why Star Wars fans are the worst

You said “jason sudekis in the season 1 finale” was one of your favorite moments. In the entire series, having a celebrity cameo for all of 2 minutes, with the guy in a stormtrooper suit doing essentially comedic bits should be a foot note in the series, not a highlight.
And with your proclamation that “Star Wars fans are the worst”, you don’t appear to recognize yourself as a fan.
I have nothing against liking an actor and enjoying what they do (I think sudekis is great, enjoy his comedic presence, love the stuff he does with Bateman), but his presence is not especially poignant as it relates to the entire series.

Sort of like how Boba was a footnote in the original trilogy?
Maybe 40 years from now, that trooper gets his own spinoff series...

I’m glad they did right by Luke. In the novels that came out in the 90’s which Disney declared no longer canon, Luke basically becomes the most powerful Jedi to ever live!! I’m glad they showed us some of that! Now bring on Sebastian Stan as Luke to bring us more!!

I could see them using season 3 with Luke having a computer generated face the whole time. People will be ok with that as long as he is in it.
WHAT IF: Luke teaches Mando the ways of the Force!! (Just a wild idea) lol

There are reveal moments and lore that I do admire about the series. In a whole the series isn’t much but an ode to fans. I can appreciate it but as a show there are a lot of holes. A lot of things done on the fly that with very belief explanations tie things together. I need more cohesion. This isn’t a great series. More of a it’s good enough series

This seems like a perfectly reasonable response actually.
Would you like to tell us about your other favorite Star Wars moments, like when the stormtrooper hit his head in the bulkhead in the opening scene of episode 4 or when qui-gon snatched jar jars tongue at the table???

I cant wait to watch the series. We currently dont have access to the service, but will get it just for this show. As someone who saw the originals in the theater as a kid, I've got an emotional attachment to the characters and movies. It seems like this show expounds on that.
I have to make a complaint regarding all the lists I keep seeing pertaining to ranking the movies/shows. The disrespect for Rogue One is ridiculous. I saw that in the theater, and at that time didnt like it much. The soundtrack threw me off, and I wasnt into the characters much. However, every time I've seen it since, I've liked it more than the previous viewing. It's now to the point that I hold it up with Empire.
The bottom for me is Solo. The more I watch it, the worse it gets. That and Attack of the Clones.

Rogue One is without question the best of the sequel movies. Solo I haven’t re-watched, but it was much better than I expected when I saw it in theaters.
The Rise of Skywalker on the other hand, yikes. It’s just absolutely awful in every conceivable way. I watched it again a few weeks ago and could barely finish it. The plot choices are aging so badly. Other than Kylo Ren there’s basically nothing redeeming about this movie.

Rise is the only one I've watched once. I saw it in the theater and it was better than my rock bottom expectations. Coming off The Last Jedi, I had the lowest expectations for a movie that I can remember. I will withhold judgement until I watch it a couple more times. The Last Jedi hasn't gotten any better with each subsequent viewing. So many bad choices and plotlines in that movie.

Just a slight weapons malfunction, We’re all fine here now, thank you, how are you?

I think Mando does what Rogue One did for me, the galaxy seems so much more "real" and that's what i love about those two titles. I love diving into the actual world.

@abbyspapa said in The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars in 40 years:
Considering the best stuff is re-using characters from 40 years ago, that makes sense.
Granted the newer Star Wars attempts are mostly garbage, but at least they were trying different stories and character arcs out.
Now it's just fan service nostalgia that gets all us old folk teary eyed. Oh look, Yoda! Oh look, Luke! Member Boba? I member them!
Nostalgia is definitely a part of the appeal. However, the storytelling and cinematography of The Mandalorian has been exceptional when compared to the new movie Series they released. This show feels like Star Wars, where the most recent movies, especially the Trilogy, has felt like something else entirely.
The Mandalorian feels like Star Wars. I think that is why it's successful. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are the true heirs of the Star Wars universe.
