Most of the time on a routine double into the gap the runner will just coast into second base and stop. However from time to time the runner will stupidly round the bag and head for third having zero chance of making it safely and by the time you stop him and try to return to second he is a dead duck. Does something in the game trigger this to happen like speed of the runner or is it just a random occurence?

I have a feeling that the baserunning aggressiveness attribute has an impact on this.
