Anyone else as bummed as me?

About the new PS5 not supporting 1440p? I, along with many other gamers, were ready to finally be able to use our high RR 1440p monitors with the PS5 and they waited to the last minute to announce they wont support this resolution at all.
This is very sad news as they have the hardware to do it at 120 FPS/Hz easy. While the hardware to support 2160p, 4K, at 120 FPS/Hz is very rare. Not too many TV's in peoples homes that have HDMI 2.1 to support anything over 4K @ 60Hz. So that means either people will be playing 4K @ 60Hz or 1080P @ 120Hz. Seems like a huge waste, and they are alienating a lot of people. I was actually gearing up for a day one launch buy, researching which sites to be on ect. and found this out. Now I have to pass.
Now all I can do is wait and see if they will support this in the future. Hopefully before the next MLB TS comes out. Sony CEO said it was possibly something they could make available in the future but as for now they are focused on prioritizing TV's.

Sony is about selling tv’s and don’t have skin in the monitor market. They could add it at a later date if enough people want it bad enough.

Lol, yes they do still sell TV's but barely. Definitely not the reason for them omitting a resolution that isnt native to a TV. They have reduced their market share of the TV market by a ton in recent years. Not long ago they were 13.2% now just 4.2% of the market.

No you make a good point. I was just saying that cannot be the reason. They arent "TV" people anymore.
I dont think there is a real reason is my point. Which makes it so bizarre.
