Question for consistant WS players

@Ikasnu said in Question for consistant WS players:
Do you guys ever make any physical modifications to your TV to try and improve your game play? As an example, using painters tape to line up the strike zone so you can always see the inside/outside of the zone?
Curious to know.
People go this far?

I would assume so. Its no different than the laser lights people use for FPS games.

I’ve only made ws twice this yr cuz I’m bad and washed, but I just use a basic monitor, a basic controller, and a basic ps4, and a basic lan cable. Haven’t experimented with anything
Wait, if you have made WS and you are calling yourself bad, where does that put me? A burning pile of garbage?

Painters tape?? LOL! I’ve never heard of that but feel bad for the poor chap who does.
I play at Oak Street. It’s aesthetically nice to look at but also the batter’s eye is pretty much the width of the strike zone on Strike Zone view. Same can be said of Shippett so that helps a ton.
If I’m away team, I focus on a visual cue in the outfield to gauge where to strike zone is

LOL. My wife LOVES to tease me about this. I cut out strips of the sticky part of a Post-it-Note, and put them on my monitor to indicate the sides of the strike zone. She says "that's like using bumpers in bowling". Don't care. It helps me.
BTW - you said "TV". Have you tried a monitor? That really helped me go from "terrible" to "average".
PS - I'm NOT WS level. I float between 600-699.

I don't do that, but lol brings back memories of people doing this in Counter Strike to get no scopes, lol.
Anyways, Something I'm very big on is eye-sight adjustment / ergonomics & posture. During the course of one of those 45 minute sweat battles (RS) you can get strain/fatigue in one position. I also adjust my seat & monitor depending on the strike zones, for instance Frank Thomas & Jroll are polar opposites, I lower my seat with Jroll so I don't chase low balls which may seem higher from a neutral position in which I'd be in during a Frank Thomas at-bat. IDK if that makes any sense but I find these things to be important to me and how I stay awake/alert. Viewing distance from the screen matters too, don't want to be too far out or too close. Super nerd conversation I know.

One thing I do is pause the game, look in the mirror and ask myself “wtf am I doing” when I’m not hitting well. Then I splash my eyes with water

Lol at @mitchhammond24 having the audacity to comment on this post even though he’s [censored].

Im way to old to put that kind of effort in lol

For The Show 20, I’ve bought a monitor, a tournament stick, gaming glasses, and I bought the rubber replacement joystick from an Atari 2600 that I have attached to the top of a kontrol freak. All this has made me maybe a fraction better. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to throw a sinker down the middle that I aimed up and in and lose on a walk off three run jack.

I simply git gud

I got a monitor. It helped me get over 700 but not worth it for me. I sit at my desk 10 hours a day I dont want to do that all weekend as well

That makes sense.

I just use a monitor but I play it in RTS mode not the FPS mode and feel it better that way dont know why. Also when hitting I need to have same sitting angle in my chair and distance from the monitor otherwise I struggle.

I missed ws. By one out. I use a $80 Walmart tv. Haha

You played this game for a long time and your sample question was that? lol, you know that isnt possible to put painters tape over each players strike zone. You would run out of pause time.

Just inside/outside.
