How do they determine power attributes?
-
I bring this subject up after seeing the release of Soto and Nelson Cruz.
Comparing their seasons,
Cruz vs RHP 11HR/142AB= 1HR/12.9AB
Soto vs RHP 8HR/104AB= 1HR/13ABCruz 118PWR vs RHP
Soto 119PWR vs RHPShould be Cruz higher in power. Then I went to slugging%
Cruz .500
Soto .654Comparing to Ruth's card and 1923 season
28HRA/338AB=1HR/12AB vs RHP
Slugging% .825Ruth 120PWR vs RHP
Going by all of this, shouldnt Ruth have a much higher PWR vs RHP attribute than Soto?
Have they ever said how they calculate the ratings for power? -
I think it more has to do with slugging and iso, it's not just home runs. So as far as Cruz and Soto, it makes sense Soto is higher. As for Ruth Idk.

You'll go crazy trying to figure out how and why SDS rates players the way they do. Honestly, I'm not convinced they have a very concrete way of doing it themselves.
-
It's a proprietary formula that will never be released (so as to prevent investors from gaming the system when it comes to upgrades/downgrades).
I personally wouldn't concern myself with made-up cards in a video game. But you do you.

They just chuck darts at a board with numbers on them

I’ve heard they use ISO as a baseline and modify it to reward HRs more. That said, who knows what they did for these Finests. They’re all over the place.
