So, I usually fluctuate somewhere in the 700s during ranked seasons. I did make it to World Series one season, but I’m not exactly sure how that happened. Anyway, I feel like pitch speeds on Hall of Fame are too fast. I understand that it is supposed to be more difficult as you move through the ranks, but I would like to see this done more by shrinking PCI size rather than increasing pitch speeds. I would like to play where the speeds are about like they are on all star but with the PCI for everybody would be about the size that you would generally have for a pitcher. I am curious to hear what some of you all might think about the pitch speeds.

I 100% like the pitch speeds, I do not want all-star pitch speeds on HoF, that would make me sad and I would probably not play as much. HoF PCI and pitch speeds is my favorite difficulty.

Do you find HoF challenging or is it pretty easy for you? Are you scoring a bunch of runs? Most of my games feel like they end up being about 4-2. Some of those I win; some I lose. But I have to work very hard for those runs regardless. I know real baseball is supposed to be hard, but I would like to see how it would play with slower speeds and tiny PCIs.

I am not a good hitter, I make World Series because of my pitching, and having all-star speeds would severely effect my ability to pitch, especially with how balls hang this year on good input.

I enjoy pitching, so I enjoy HoF

My average is about .263 and E.R.A is something like 4.44. Most of my games feel like slogs. How about this then: slower pitch speeds, tiny PCIs, and the pitches actually went where you wanted them to? But I see where your coming from, and I respect your opinion.

I'd still rather keep the pitch speeds, I honestly love how useable fastballs are this year, it's my probably my favorite change they made in 20.

I made WS this season with a 2.95 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP, I usually bat around .280, but that's mostly singles, I'm not really a home run hitter.

HoF is a bit too fast imo. Tone it down a smidge and make HoF/AS the same speeds and im fine. If I can just have 1 stagnant speed, it would be far easier for me to adjust as opposed to the back and forth.

Agreed. The back and forth is really frustrating. It’s funny, though, I swear sometimes the speeds on all star are faster than on HoF. But that’s a conversation about connection quality that we don’t really need to get in to here. At the very least, knowing what level you’re going to be playing on going into the game would be nice.

I could go with that, but the PCI is way too big. If you’re facing someone who uses circle to swing with two strikes, it’s almost impossible to engineer a swing and miss on all star, with countless foul balls on bad timing or PCI placement. I really feel like if you’re early and swing in front of a pitch it should result in a swing and a miss more often than a 200mph laser foul ball or home run. Same with being late, or jamming the PCI down with good timing. This would buff pitching immensely, encourage players to practice plate discipline and generally improve the quality of the experience.

As someone who has never made World Series, I would simply say that I would prefer that everyone was playing on a level
playing field. You shouldn’t have to buy a monitor to be able to make World Series. I realize that there are people out there that do it, but a decent percentage of the players still playing are using monitors.

Now, i know that’s not possible, so I’ll just go with...pitch speeds are fine the way they are.

Yeah PCI in general needs to be decreased. Its friggen huge on AS.

I think the pitch speeds need to be universal. It’s hard enough to adjust between 100+ high sinkers and ridiculous breaking stuff.

I realize there needs to be some way to increase difficulty as ranks go up, but the constant change of pitch speed from mode to mode and difficulty to difficulty is just unpleasant.

I’d be all for it. I mean think about it for a second. As a minor league ball player, if a pitcher throws you a 95mph heater, it’s no different to a MLB pitcher throwing you a 95mph fastball. It doesn’t magically travel faster because you’re getting paid more or playing in a higher division. The swing timing window and pitch speeds shouldn’t vary from 600-700+ in RS that’s just ridiculous. The difficulty should be increased and decreased by PCI size, it doesn’t represent the bat anyway, as SDS have repeatedly told us, so that means we wouldn’t be playing with a magically shrinking bat as we progress through the divisions.

To me, it just makes the most sense. I mean, there will always be differences of opinion regarding what is the ideal pitch speed, but if it is constant, at least you can practice and get better at it.

I’ve found it very difficult to improve this year because of how much the game changes from mode to mode. I am constantly making adjustments, and, while I realize baseball is about making adjustments, the scale of differences right now is just too vast.

Need home runs for a moment? Switch to directional and aim up. Playing showdown? Take pitches galore. Playing ranked? Take pitches and try to catch up to the high sinker, etc. The timing windows seem to change radically as well.

It just adds up to a feeling of frustration during gameplay more than it should, imo.

Agreed. Something has felt off for me this entire weekend. I had no idea whether or not I was playing on HoF or all star. And I would feel “on” pitches but the contact result would not represent it. I assume it was because, even though pitches seemed to be the same speed, apparently the timing windows were different. I felt helpless. Lord only knows what all goes into determining pitch speeds from pitch to pitch, but I didn’t know what to do.

This. I just can't see enjoying the game as much on a screen 1/5th the size of my TV. Usually when I see a World Series banner I just quit because I can't over talent gap AND tech advantages.

I'll add I feel like the timing window between same handed hitting vs. opposite handed hitting seems way too large. I understand most MLB players hit opposite handed pitching better but most can still hit same handed pitching at a decent rate. On HOF its almost impossible to hit same handed pitching if you don't have a monitor.

Very happy with pitch speeds this year. Love being able to use guys like Bob Feller and Walter Johnson and have success with them.
