TA4 - the REAL question
-
So, yes, I know we're getting cards. BUT... how many TA packs will we get? Will we get more BIAH packs or maybe a Ducks/Beachball pack? Probably not, as I can't imagine SDS potentially giving away 30 of them.
Obviously I'm bored and can't think of anything more interesting to post. But... I WANT FREE STUFF.
-
I think they'll just keep up the trend with the BIAH packs. They're useless anyway, especially this late in the year when almost all high diamonds are dirt cheap. If you pull one in the first place that is.
-
Who wants more DOTP packs at this point either? I think most people Don’t really need any of the free rewards ( for many, even stubs) at this point.
And obviously SDS can’t figure out anything new to entice as they keep throwing the same free stuff at us in Conquest maps, post 300 star inning rewards, etc....
-
My real question is when is it coming?
-
My guess is a week or 2 after World series winner, so they dont dupe finest with postseason cards too much
-
I would actually prefer headliner bundles to BIAH packs at this point. At least with Headliners you have a better chance of pulling someone that has some value. I think the last 6 diamonds I pulled from BIAH have been Guys like Buxton and Seth Lugo

If it’s finest, I don’t care. I just hope they make them sellable so I can dump them all through the market. The last thing I need is 30 unrealistically juiced 99 overall versions of players like Randy Arozarena or whoever. They’d never sniff my team, I don’t need more pinch hitters and there are more than enough juiced cards of current day players with 125 everything to go around as it is.
I feel like Topps Now negates the finest cards to a large extent. They’re basically the “Finest of this week” anyway and they’re all better than guys like Griffey or Greg Maddux when compared side by side. I had literally no idea we were now in an era of baseball where most players are now significantly better in terms of statistical ability (At least for one game, or one season or whatever SDS choose to use) than a lot of the all time legends of the game. Fascinating.
It’s just a good job they changed the rating scale to 125 from 99 so that the true legends, the absolute superstars of the game that will never be equalled really stand out. It was a good move. Otherwise, I’d probably have missed the fact that while a guy who was considered to be fairly decent at hitting such as Babe Ruth merits 120 power from his best side, he isn’t quite as good as say, a fearsome modern day slugger such as Adalberto Mondesi, who just pips him by 5 points, with 125 power. As this is reserved for making the best of the best stand out from the crowd, I’m looking forward to the conversations over drinks in the future, as we debate the all time greats of the game. You know things like “Who was really the best hitter? Babe Ruth, or Jordan Luplow?” or maybe “Between Benito Santiago and Thomas Nido that one game he hit two HR with 6 RBI, including a grand slam, who was the best defensive catcher of the pair? I’m taking Nido!!!”
These cards are pretty stupid and finest will only get even sillier.

Tip of the cap to you sir on this post. This has been the worst year for player ratings I can recall. The concepts of future stars and finest I like but the execution is far from good.
-
I deliberately didn’t mention the future stars and prospects, but as it’s been brought up, not only do SDS say that a lot of modern day players compare well with or exceed the talents of HOFs from the past, they also appear to project that roughly three dozen players are on a trajectory that will see them equal or eclipse the likes of Alomar, Biggio and Larry Walker in due course.

I should also add that if they are going to do ridiculously unrealistic cards then I'd like some high diamond versions of Benny the Jet Rodriguez, Hamilton Porter, Smalls, Squints, and the rest of the gang from the Sandlot. Throw in Jake Taylor, Rick Wild Thing Vaughn, Willie Mays Hays, Pedro Cerrano and the Major League Crew. Crash Davis would be welcomed. You get the idea.

Prediction:
200: Mascot Nameplate
210: 10 TA Packs
220: Ballin Bundle
230: 7.5K Stubs
240: Finest -

Then... they should do absolutely unrealistic packs! Win/Win! A combined "Prospects/Future Stars/Headliner" pack where you open the pack, you have 30 cards to choose from, and keep.... let's say.... 10.

Well something needs to be released to get stubs out of the market. Maybe that pack, priced at only 1m stubs with a purchase limit of 12 per player could work.
