Be the Home team where you can control the time of day and stadium you play at or the Away team where 90% of the time; if you score first, your opponent quits?

They quit if youre home or away. As long as you blank them in the 1st and you score. I would prefer to be home team personally.

Never played BR before. If they quit, aren’t they losing any remaining chance of going 12-0 which is the only reason people play BR?

No. You can go as many times as you want. You just can't lose twice within the same 12 games. If you do, it's back to the drafting board you go. The most wins I ever got was 5 maybe, and that's only because people quit. Not even because you scored either. Some people are intimidated by the Prestige Status that you carry and think their screwed. People just don't understand that Prestige Status is not a skill status. Just game progress.
