Last year, we knew that a sig would be the best version of a given player/card. How do we know what the best card will be this year? For instance, the Rollie in the xp path is a 96 Cy Young card, will that be the best Rollie all year or could there be a sig version as well.

We don't know. They could add another Rollie down the line. It seems like they want to strike a balance between those award cards, those prime cards, and Sig series cards though

The whole point of SS cards was to let people know that they have the best version of a player, and there isn’t going to be a better one released later on. It seems that concept might be gone now, and award or prime cards could be the best versions for some players.

Maybe award cards will just replace traditional hardware cards in some instances, who knows. But Fingers’ SS card was a 96 last year, so I kinda doubt they give him anything higher this year. Again, who knows though.

I just hope they clarify, so we know if for instance there is going to be a sig 99 Posey to go along with the MVP or if these other versions (prime, awards, etc) are just a way to have a max card for a player with different art.

Did you see the stats on that Posey? I'm pretty confident that will be his best version in the game lol, that card looked super juiced.

I feel like we won’t get two 99 cards of the same player, unless it’s like Arod previously where the two cards had different skill sets.

At least I hope we don’t.

They did verify it in the stream! Kyle Blake said the problem with last years lineups were nothing but Sigs and finest @ endgame and that is why they created the awards cards and prime.

Prolly even go out on a limb and say that prestige will be the best version on said cards. 99 larkin was better than his last years sig i believe so i like the concept. Creates more diversity and the Art team did a great job.

Way too many sig cards with every or most attributes over cap. These kind of immortals should be rare and shouldn’t have 3-4 options at every position. It makes for no decision making.

It's a no-win situation. If there isn't 3-4 options at every position, we have a 2018 scenario of the facing the same lineups every time. If there is, people complain that stats are to buffed.

I would rather have the second scenario personally, there isn't a win-win situation with cards.

We don’t need immortals again. Options are a good thing.

What i think should happen is very good cards at every position but very rare very hard to get or very expensive cards over cap.

I’d rather see all of the bosses be at the level of the first inning and not have 3 - 99 bosses every inning.

What I mean is. They should barely exist. I’d rather see cards at the level of the Helton card which are very good but balanced. We don’t need 150 cards with every attribute over cap.

I wouldn't be opposed to that, but then you get the problem that if the best cards are very hard to get/expensive. You get P2W entering the conversation.
Even if it was free, but a huge grind to get the best players, it means casual players are left in the dust if they don't have the time. There isn't a win-win situation for SDS with cards.

Yeah but if we have all these cards in the Helton range of overall, the special players (Griffey, Babe, Mantle, etc.) are going to be the only cards used. You can’t have lineup diversity without juiced cards that weren’t necessarily the best players of all time. In 18 every lineup consisted of Immortals. You couldn’t compete without them. In 19, while the only cards used were SS and Finest, you still got a wide variety of different player cards that were used. They are trying to mix up card types this year while still having diversity of players. Which is good. Many of even the most dedicated MLB the show players quit playing 18 in July because of the immortals

Yea that’s a good point. Honestly I played the life out of 18 til the end and you know what’s funny. I didn’t have a single immortal. I couldn’t stomach the offline grinds.

I do see what you are saying. It just seems like so many really cool cards go to waste because you have to keep up. Trienen for example was really beast for me then those huge pcis came into play and he became useless.

In my search for more variety though I can see how you are describing it backfiring
