Love me some kersh but this braves lineup is filth. Everyone locked in rn
It's the playoffs. Everyone has a stacked lineup.
If he wants to be considered an all time great, he needs to pitch great in the post season.
It might not be fair, but that is the standard baseball has used for over 100 years.Show a little [censored] respect.
Oh buddy you stepped in it big time.
You are right Kershaw hasn't been as bad as I thought, he has been WORSE.
By most accounts he is the worst postseason pitcher EVER!!!!http://baseballegg.com/2019/10/12/is-kershaw-the-worst-great-pitcher-in-postseason-history/
(Thanks to @dbarmonstar for the link)And I am not over reacting to one bad outing, I am reacting to about 10 bad outings!!! You sound like a clown.
He sucked in the playoffs when he was young, at his peak and now at the end of his career. And you claim he was the best pitcher ever over 5 years, by what measure??
WAR? Nope
Heck he doesn't even have the best 5 yr run on his own team..Mr. Koufax would like a word with you clown.
Koufax from 62-66 not only matched Kershaw's 3 Cy Young's (only 1 CY for all of baseball then) and 1 MVP. He also finished 2nd in the MVP voting 2 other years. He Also lead the NL in ERA ALL five years. He also had two 10 plus WAR seasons, his 3rd best season of 8.1 WAR in 65 matches Kershaw's best season over your so called best ever 5 yr run.
BTW, he also won 2 World Series MVP's during the run, but yeah Kershaw was better.
The only time Kershaw saw a WS MVP award was when they handed it to the team that just whooped his a$$.And for as great as Koufax was Randy Johnson's run from 98-2002 was probably better.
So before you go around telling people to show a little respect you better check yourself and make sure your facts are straight before you look like a complete and total moron.
I have always stuck up for Kershaw and we had back and forth about it, when I found that article there is no denying how bad Kershaw is in the postseason. When He is good he is really good, when he is bad he is really bad, there is no middle ground with Kershaw. Hopefully dodgers only need him for 1 start in this WS. I hope he pitches lights out vs TB like he has done vs The Cardinals in a game 1 but lost 1-0 dodgers had no offense. 2017 WS vs Astros he was outstanding his first outing dodger won I believe 2-1.

Yes his 2013-2017 five season stretch is the best ever by many pitching metrics. Worst postseason pitcher?? Kershaws postseason ERA is 4.31, not great but far from the “worst postseason pitcher ever.” Stop being an ungrateful little brat and appreciate baseball greatness when it’s in front of you. Now have a great weekend you little [censored] and say hi to mommy for me
What metrics??
Yours perhaps. There isn't a knowledgeable baseball fan (other than you and Dodgers fanboys) that would call Kershaw's 5 yr run the best ever..
Did you not read the numbers Koufax put up?
He also struck out 300 plus hitters 3 times in that span, Kershaw? once. There isn't a postseason pitcher with at least 50 IP whose ERA, HR/9 and expected runs goes up more than Kershaw.
Yep, WORST Postseason Pitcher EVER!!! Live with it fanboystop sniffing his jock and get your head out of his a$$.
BTW, tell your mom I left a $20 for her on the nightstand.
I feel insulted I am a dodger fan and I would take Koufax over Kershaw.

It might not be fair, but that is the standard baseball has used for over 100 years. So then Keyshawn doesn’t belong in the hall of fame?
Who said that?
My initial post was can you remember another 1st ballot sure fire Hall of Famer that has come up as small in the Playoffs as Kershaw has?
Kershaw is a Hall of Famer, but he is trash when it matters most. He is a great player, but he can never be in the all time great discussion because of prolonged and repeated playoff disasters. As for "Keyshawn" he is not a Hall of Famer, nobody got him the D-a-m-n ball.
Ok good post. Just wanted to clarify. It’s unfortunate that it happened that way but it did.
If you watched the games over the years in the post season, Kershaw was always left in to long in a game especially by Mattingly. Look at some of the games he had no run support. He has had plenty of games were outstanding. You can throw out the WS games where the Astros Cheated,. He pitched outstanding vs the Astros at dodger stadium in that WS but his second outing in Hou not so good.
Good point on the cheating Stros. I will concede that.
Baseball while being a team sport has the single most important individual in sports, as far as determining outcomes, the starting pitcher.Win-Loss record is misleading and we all know that. But a career 4.31 ERA is not.
A starting pitcher has one job, keep his team in the game. If he would have left after 5 IP tied at 1. He did his job. He gave the Dodgers a chance to win, that is all you can ask for.
At this point of his career he is a #4 starter and a #3 caliber on his best days.I would say his is still a 2 or 3, Buehler is the ace on the dodgers . In the post season I trust Kershaw for One good outing and Urias has been great.

Maybe, but he was keeping them in it. 1 run on 1 hit isn’t going to win much. Their offense needs to wake up.
GREAT POINT. He did his job in my opinion. The bullpen and the offense did not have his back last night!
No he did not.
He did his job through 5 innings.
The 6th inning DID happen. He surrendered a hit to Acuna and doubles to Freeman and Ozuna.
You can't blame the error advancing Acuna to second, he would have scored on Freeman's double. And Ozuna would have certainly driven him in on his double.Even if Graterol would have shut the Braves down, it would have been 3-1 after 6 innings.
Roberts is the issue here. He took a banged up, fading veteran and got greedy and tried to run him out there for one more inning.
Shows you how little faith he has in his pen.
Can't even blame NL strategy since there is a universal DH.Kershaw is like the race horse that will run until he collapses. It is up to his proverbial jockey (Roberts) to know when to pull in the reins.
Kershaw didnt fail the Dodgers. Roberts and by extension the Dodgers failed Kershaw.
If the error does not happen than it is possible neither does the double by Freeman, Now it does not matter.

The error had no bearing on the double.
The question is would the runner have scored on a double from first?
The runner was Acuna and with his speed it is not a stretch to say he would have scored from first.
If the runner was Ozuna then you have an argument.Acuna is one of the faster baserunners in baseball. He has shown his speed through out the playoffs. And he is a super aggressive baserunner and we know Washington would have waved him home.

Sorry brother, but Kershaw at this point is a 4 at best.
He cant be counted on to take the mound every 5th day and when he does expecting more than 5 innings or 2 times through a lineup is not realistic. Can he have a good day and provide us a glimpse of what he once was?
Absolutely
He is simply not consistent enough to be relied on so heavily.
The Dodgers need to find a pitcher, preferably on a short term deal, until more prospects develop.Bauer wants big money but he wants a 1 yr deal. $30-35m for one yr?
Sign him.
Morton, if he doesnt retire, is a great 1 or 2 yr deal type starter as well. -

\Disagree, The defense would have been set differently and the pitch could have been different. How you pitch a guy with runner of first and runner in scoring position is different and defenses now play different with all the shifts. If Freeman still hits a double yeah it is a possible he would have scored.

I can’t believe someone said Kershaws 4+ era isn’t that bad in the Playoffs . For the ace that he was he should’ve been dominating hitters instead of crumbling in key moments of the game. I’ve watched almost all of his playoff games and most of those are him holding on to his knees after the other team starts scoring on him. A true postseason ace would hold hitters to low runs in multiple games like Verlander, Cole, Postseason Tanaka before 2020. Theres a reason why I’ve called him Chokeshaw before. The man isn’t consistent in the playoffs.

My Kershaw memories in the playoffs tend to be the bullpen letting runners score such as today. By no means is he lights out, but let's also realize such as in 2019 he got his one out of the bullpen there is no need to have him return after he retires his one batter. I remember Baez coming in and blowing it after or like Brusdar today coughing up runners on base. My next question would be is Mike Trout an all time great because he's 1-10 in postseason and can't even get there or Degrom who has a 7.20 era in one WS start in his only postseason appearance? We can punish Kershaw for all the blow ups but he's also had more chances than someone like Degrom or Trout.
You can’t blame Trout and Degrom for not having any chances. The Mets and Angels have had some of the worst front offices in professional sports history for the last 20 years. This isn’t basketball. One great player can’t carry a team to the playoffs in a 162 game season. TBH Trout and Degrom have pretty much kept their teams from being the Tigers, Orioles, or Pirates the last 5 years
Agree 100%
