Mike Piazza as Catcher

Has anyone had any sucess with him? Was considering him but wanted to know if the offense is worth trading in defense
-
Nah, he has a long slow swing, bad defense and isn’t worth the stubs. I have him back there though, love the 90s guys and I remember watching him rake IRL. Posada is nice with equally bad defense for a fraction of the price.
-
Haven't used him yet but I have used Piazza cards in the past including his other card from this year. I'm not alone in not liking his swing. He has a very slow swing and I can't hit with him. I haven't used Jimmie Foxx either but my guess is you're going to get a lot people saying if you're willing to sacrifice defense at the C position you would be better off getting him over Piazza. All things considered probably a much better hitter and you'll save yourself about 60k in stubs. I've been using Pudge at C and his defense is great but I like a C with good D. His offense isn't that bad either. Not a lot of power but I get a lot of base hits with Pudge.

For me he has 149 PA, .238, 7HR, 14RBI and I don’t know why I even bother with him for the cost. But hey, maybe he’ll work for you.

Yeah I roll with yadi and his defense alone has won games...batting .311 with him 51 hits and 9 homeruns in like 150 innings

I was considering Yadi too but ended up going with Pudge instead. You're right, that D at C can win you games. Especially with some 99 speed guys now making a lot of peoples teams. With Pudge at C, and I would think it's the same with Yadi you'll either be throwing guys out trying to steal or they just won't even try. In my opinion that makes a huge difference even if you do sacrifice a little bit of offense. Not that Pudge and Yadi are even bad with the bat, they maybe just don't have the power with some of the cards other people use there.

Offline he is great, online I struggle with him. Bench is the same for me. Jason Kendall is actually my best hitting catcher.

Yeah, I can crush with Piazza offline..He still does pretty good in RS, but Bench is brutally bad for me...

That Molina card is the best catcher I’ve used, he’s what you hoped Pudge would have been. Piazza’s like Frank Thomas with a worse swing.

If you have the stubs to get piazza, try foxx instead and put a catcher with great defense on the bench for late inningd

Should pick up the ps D’arnaud. He has 125 125 against righties and much better defense and better defense than piazza. Plus he’s free.
